Salado Montessori

First Fall Update

Dear Parents, Friends, Neighbors, and Community,

What a wonderful first two weeks we have had!

Our days have been filled with reacquainting ourselves with the Practical Life and Sensorial shelves, releasing ladybugs into our keyhole garden and onto our monarch-loving milkweed, practicing self-care and care of self, and walking on the line.

As a parent, you may be pleasantly surprised to see your kiddo helping tidy up after dinner or wanting to wash the mirrors.  We'd love to hear about the new (or remembered) skills your little one is using at home, too!

Volunteer Day

Sept 15 :: 9AM-12PM

Our first Volunteer Day of the 2018-2019 year is just around the corner!

We have many small projects, including (but not limited to) building a sandbox, minor repairs and improvements to our shelves, repairing our birdbath, cleaning the windows, and helping build information packets to share with prospective families.   There are many more things on the list, but that should give an idea of the types of jobs you can help with.

As you know, our school is a non-profit, built and maintained by the love we pour into it.  This is a great opportunity for you to get to know other parents as well as making our learning environment the best it can be for our sweet young learners.

2018 Grape Stomp and Harvest Festival

September 22 :: 4-7 PM :: Salado Winery

We are THRILLED to let you all know that Salado Montessori will receive all the proceeds raised from this year's Grape Stomp at Salado Winery.  We are so grateful for this opportunity and hope each of you will be able to attend.   In the event that you will not be able to attend, we'd like to graciously request your help in promoting the event.  Please invite your friends and family - remember, this is our big fundraiser, so lets all help make it a huge success!

Tickets can be purchased here:

DONOR RECOGNITION

A huge thanks goes out to First Texas Realty and First Eye Care Salado for their generous sponsorship of our upcoming Grape Stomp!   We have received so much and continue to be blessed by our growing community.  Thank you!

For those of you who didn't get to see this recent research, you might be interested in a fascinating study that recently came out about the Montessori Method.  "Montessori children fared better on measures of academic achievement, social understanding, and mastery orientation, and they also reported relatively more liking of scholastic tasks. They also scored higher on executive function when they were 4. In addition to elevating overall performance on these measures, Montessori preschool also equalized outcomes among subgroups that typically have unequal outcomes."  Pretty cool stuff!  Click here to read more:
