Celebrating the Best Workplaces in Travel 2024

This time last week, we were busy getting ready for our Best Workplaces in Travel sparkling awards event. It's always exciting to see industry leaders and professionals come together to recognise and celebrate excellence and that's exactly what happened. The room was buzzing!

As you know, our winners are identified by asking the people who truly know, their employees, to rate what they really value at work. This is achieved via a unique, innovative survey format, using values elicitation technology, powered by our partner, Korero. Enabling every employee to rate what’s important to them, our survey is far removed from the usual static list of questions in other surveys.

As the survey is anonymous and voted by the employee, it means SO much more to the travel company when their employer brand is recognised as

one of the Best Workplaces in Travel.

Visit our website to find out which companies achieved the Best Workplaces in Travel accolade, the winners, runners up, and the special award recipients. We've also shared the key collective employee data insights from this year's survey.

Travel Weekly People Summit

It was great to partner with Travel Weekly at their People Summit on the same day as our awards, and to see so many of our participating companies in BWIT attend what was was another thought-provoking and insightful event.

An audience of more than 120 business leaders and HR professionals heard from a range of expert panelists who discussed the outlook for our industry’s most important asset. We heard from companies leading the way in the field of staff support and engagement, and plenty of realism about the challenges facing us all. Jane Sunley BWIT (above) spoke about the importance of engagement and shared her views on "culture washing".

One of the highlights was a presentation from keynote speaker, Dr Amanda Potter from Zircon, who challenged delegates to create “psychologically safe” environments where staff at all levels feel trusted and empowered to speak up and drive change for the better.

Jo Harley, Korero moderated an excellent panel of 2023 entrants including Miriam D'Souli, HR Director at Jet2Holidays, Michelle Heywood, Finance Director from Easyjet Holidays and Iain Stevenson-Wood, People Director from Neilson. Miriam showed a video on what it is like to work for Jet2, and shared heartfelt quotes from some of the employees who completed the 2023 survey. These comments are priceless. She said that they brought a tear to her eye.
