Exclusive Guest Announcement!

We are thrilled to announce that KIRAN SHAH will be joining us for The Great Con-Junction's Dark Crystal 40th Anniversary Celebration!

Kiran started working on Dark Crystal in late 1978. To start, Kiran was training to be the Chamberlain (Skeksis). Jim Henson asked Kiran to be Jen’s walking, running and stunt double. Kiran trained with Movement director Jean- Pierre Amiel, As well as producing Jen’s movement for most wide and mid shots when not being puppeteered by Jim Henson, Kiran also did the same for the Chamberlain and Slave Master when not being puppeteered by Frank Oz and Mike Quinn. When you see the Landstriders for the first time Kiran was the baby Landstrider. In 1979 while still training with Jean, Jim and Frank started throwing lots of different characters at Kiran and he started performing them.

Kiran learnt a lot from Jim and many others. He has many fond memories and really enjoyed being involved with this world. Kiran operated a few of the Podling puppets in the festival scene, a few bird creatures in cages when the Scientist was draining Kira in the lab, and also the cables for Animatronic Skeksis puppets. He did stunts for Kira when she flew down with Jen on her back and in the Crystal Chamber when she goes to pick up the Crystal.

Kiran was the only stuntman on the film.

This film opened the door for Kiran to work as a creature performer in films, TV shows and commercials, most recent being all the new Star Wars films.
