Hi All!
Happy July. I have so much that I’m excited to share with you!
After finishing my content edits, I’ve been hard at work on the book matter for ALL THAT IS SACRED. For example, I’ve been tightening up the summary and my bio for the book jacket, in addition to writing out the dedication, acknowledgements (thank-yous at the back of the book) and reading guide questions. In book cover news, I sent a preference sheet to the creative team which includes some sample book covers that I like, some themes and symbols from my novel and color schemes. I’m super excited to see how it turns out, and, I promise, you will be the first to see it. While I was hoping my debut would be out by the end of this year, it's looking like my release date will be at the beginning of 2023. Believe me, you will know when I do. I can't wait to share my first book baby.
In other publishing news, I’m happy to report that I’ve signed a contract with Red Adept for my 2nd novel called OF LIES AND HONEY. It focuses on mother/daughter relationships that are seemingly separate but weave together as the story progresses. Taking place in both 1969 and the early 2000s in various parts of Georgia, the novel has a bit of a historical bent as it deals with social class, the debutante society, in addition to abortion, adoption and surrogacy. It also looms large with a bee motif.
And finally, it’s summer. Right?! I think we’ve all been looking forward to all things summer: relaxation, adventure, social activities. My plans for summer include writing, of course. I’m working on a first draft for a new novel which may involve hypnosis–back to another lifetime! Stay tuned for more on that. I also start every summer with a stack of books (ten for this summer) I collect over school year. While all of these are appealing in different ways, I’m most excited to read The Paper Palace by Miranda Cowley Heller. Who doesn’t love a good Reese Witherspoon book recommendation? Not to mention, it’s set on Cape Cod which is always my favorite summer destination. We are headed to Hyannis at the end of July. Ahh…my happy place!
Until next time...
