Climate resilience is the ability to anticipate, prepare for, and respond to hazardous trends related to climate. Whether through directly protecting our mother earth or learning about systemic challenges and solutions, there's a lot we can do to ignite the powers that will shape our best future. Come with us and meet some inspiring projects!
Ashes of the Forest, by Artivist Mundano
Every year, we lose a UK-sized amount of forest to fires and preparation of land for agriculture or cattle ranching. Our friend and Brazilian artivist Mundano decided to mobilize change through a 1000 square meter appeal.
He traveled across the burning forests collecting their ashes, turned them into paint in different shades of gray, and brought to life a huge mural in downtown Sao Paulo, the biggest and most influential city in South America.
The intention of the project is to raise awareness and donations to the firefighters who work tirelessly to stop the forest blaze. Be The Earth Foundation is one of the supporters of the project and we tell the whole story (and how to donate!) in our blog.
Seeds are the heart of agriculture and the source of our foods.
The Seed Sovereignty movement reclaims seeds and biodiversity as commons and public good, which is key to a resilient food system and essential in strengthening food production to withstand the effects of climate change.
The first-ever Seed Gathering offered by our friends at the Gaia Foundation and co-funded by Be The Earth, was a two-day virtual space where we could build a stronger movement for Seed Sovereignty. Watch session recordings and check out the event's insightful and inspirational zine!
Across our globe, there are innumerous people turning human problems into human solutions, by restoring ecosystems, nurturing solidarity, and making societies stronger.
The Lush Spring Prize rewards projects that are working towards environmental and social regeneration, to build capacity for those repairing the earth’s damaged systems.
This year, Be The Earth was invited to co-fund and co-create a new category: The Ancient and Indigenous Knowledge Award.
We were very touched by the work of the winning projects "Centro de Cultura Sabuká Kariri-Xocó" and "The Marignalised Mirror". Read all about them in our blog!
