I have just been given access to a copy of the 'Snelling' archive. This is a personal archive relating to the family of George Baxter via his sister Ann who married Francis Snelling in 1833. He was integral to many things relating to George Baxter starting with being an executor to John Baxter's (his wife's and George's father) will. There are many items in the

archive of great interest, from his father's and mother's wills, copies of letters Baxter wrote mainly complaining about the way he was treated, to letters from his son asking for financial help. Starting soon I will be uploading copies of the letters and transcriptions, the only place they can be seen outside of Reading Museum who hold the originals

This should be an interesting read -  I have uploaded my 'collection' of adverts that I have amassed over many years. Adverts placed by George Baxter in the press during his working years from adverts for apprentices and engravers to his latest published prints

After Baxter's unsuccessful retirement auction in May 1860 he embarked on a three year series of regional sales.
