When asked if there was anything else to share about their experience at our Center, caregivers have said... "Elaina is a very kind and sweet person." |

MDT Coordinator, Kyllah, here! We've had a busy summer here at the FWCAC and are looking forward to fall. Personally, fall is one of my favorite seasons as it's a kick start to some of the best holidays! In this newsletter, our Executive Director gives a quick message about the Center, we celebrate some CAC staff, discuss recent training opportunities, let you know about some upcoming fundraisers, and more. As always, thank you for staying up to date with the FWCAC! |

A Message from Our Executive Director |
While we love coming to you with fun updates and current events, I also want to use this platform to shed some light on the high rise in child abuse cases we are seeing. Right now, we are seeing as many children for Forensic Interviews in a one month time frame as we were in an entire quarter compared to this time last year. Our caseload is at an all-time high, with nearly 180 open child abuse investigations between Franklin and Williamson counties. The work we do can be hard to show to the community because of the sensitive nature and confidentiality of it all. While the community hears “180 children,” our Center and Multi-Disciplinary Team sees 180 names, faces, parents/caregivers, and stories. We’ve welcome those children through our front door, into a safe environment to share the most sensitive details of their abuse; we’ve sat with parents and caregivers while they’ve processed what has happened, walked families through the court system, reviewed their cases at MDT, and provided counseling to help start the healing process. In a perfect world, child abuse wouldn’t exist and there would be no need for CACs, but lately, we’ve been shown we’re needed now more than ever. We thank the community and our funders for their continuous support, believing in the work that we do, and helping us be a voice for the children we serve. We couldn’t do it without you. -- Sarah Anderson |

National Forensic Interviewer Week |
July 7th marked the beginning of National Forensic Interviewer Week. At the FWCAC, we have two Forensic Interviewers on staff, our MDT Coordinator/Forensic Interviewer, Kyllah Glass, and our Executive Director, Sarah Anderson! We are thankful for the work our fellow Forensic Interviewers do and their passion for serving child victims of abuse - making sure each child they talk with feels heard, understood, and safe. |
Executive Director/Forensic Interviewer, Sarah, started with the FWCAC in 2020. Not only does Sarah help keep the center running but she also is trained in Child First Interviewing Protocol and has conducted about 130 interviews! |
MDT Coordinator/Forensic Interviewer, Kyllah, has been with the FWCAC for two years. Kyllah is trained in ChildFirst Interviewing Protocol and has conducted about 300 interviews with children ranging from 2 years old and up! |

We recently teamed up with Bonfire and Wine for another CAC apparel order. Thank you for once again supporting the FWCAC and donating a portion of sales back to our center! |

Thank you to everyone who made the 30th Annual Downstate Conference such a success. We had a great turn out, amazing speakers from various fields who were all eager to share their knowledge, and a top notch experience at Walker's Bluff Casino Resort! Also, one more thank you to our sponsors DCFS CJTF, CDITF, and The Poshard Foundation for being such strong supporters of the work we do. We couldn't have pulled this off without them! |

Our Amazon Wishlist is an easy and convenient way to support the children right here in your community. When children come to the CAC for their interview, we provide snacks, drinks, send them home with a backpack full of hygiene products, fidget toys, books, and school supplies. And while we run through these products rather quickly, donors who shop our Amazon Wishlist allow us to keep giving. |
