As part of a regional initiative to regenerate thriving social, environmental and economic systems in San Luis Obispo County, the SLO Permaculture Guild is dedicated to holding space for community members to share knowledge, build support and co-create the solutions for an abundant tomorrow. 

Local Permaculture Business Directory

The SLO Permaculture Guild website is being updated to include a directory of local permaculture businesses. Let's grow our local permaculture movement. Several landowners have recently been designing permaculture projects and in the future we hope to showcase some of these. Tend the Land on Sunday Mornings - 9am to 12noon

Come tend the land at our local permaculture project on Sunday mornings, 9am until 12noon to create Our Global Family Village project together.  Come join in the permaculture fun and meet other permaculture people. We are located at City Farm SLO, 1221 Calle Joaquin Road. We can host up to ten volunteers at a time. We wear face masks and maintain our social distance.  Former SLO Council Member starts a Permaculture Farm

After spending significant amounts of time discussing climate action as part of aggressive environmental policies passed by the San Luis Obispo City Council, Gomez said he’s putting into practice what he preaches. Gomez and his relatives are starting a permaculture farm that aims to develop agricultural ecosystems that are sustainable and self-sufficient. Gomez said, “The data is quite clear that the average American’s way of life comes at a huge cost to other humans around the world as well as other life forms around the globe. This is my way of putting my own actions in alignment with what I have been preaching.”

Local Permaculture Design Company has lots of permaculture design projects underway

The last quarter of 2020 was three month design sprint for 7th Generation Design. They have completed Level 2 Whole Site Designs for two properties, one in Temecula (19 acres) and one in Paso Robles (6 acres), a Level 1 Site Assessment + Passive Water Harvesting design for another multi-family property in Huasna Valley (45 acres), and a complete off-grid solar Level 3 implementation plan for some off-grid housing in Santa Margarita. 

It has never been more important to build, grow and weave our own systems of support. The value of generating our own power, growing our own food, controlling our own livelihood, and being in the best physical and mental health we can be will increase exponentially in 2021 and beyond.

Quail Springs offering online Permaculture Design Certification (PDC) Course

We are thrilled to officially announce that pre-registration is open for our online Permaculture Design Certification Course (PDC)! 

10-WEEK ONLINE COURSE
APRIL 12 - JUNE 4, 2021
Quail Springs has taught in-person PDCs for over a decade, and more than 1,000 students have earned their Permaculture Design Certificates with us. We weren't able to host students at our demonstration site this year, and we've been mourning that loss. However, 2020 also gave us the opportunity to reflect on our curriculum and the way we deliver it, and dream up new ways to serve a changing world.
