2019 WA Young Person of the Year Congratulations to Brenda Amito who won both the Commissioner for Children and Young People’s Participate Award and overall WA Young Person of the Year at Friday night's 2019 WA Youth Awards. Brenda migrated to WA from Uganda in 2007 and founded the Edmund Rice Centre WA (ERCWA) Multicultural AFL Umpiring Academy in 2017, at age 14 years. She was instrumental in developing the academy including arranging and running development camps, training sessions and umpiring games. In the development camps, Brenda took full charge of the administrative duties including organising course material, conducting assessments, developing food menus and overseeing the volunteers. Brenda takes full charge of the training and development requirements of the umpires by running regular training sessions and providing on the ground mentoring during umpiring events. We are proud of Brenda and all the amazing finalists at the WA Youth Awards. |

Learning English Through Storytime (LETS) The LETS program assists children and their families to improve and practise English in a fun and educational environment. The Family- Online TV Series Opportunities "The Family" centres on the lives of an African family who made Australia their new home. Red Cross National Youth Commission- Volunteering and Youth Employment Survey The Red Cross Youth Advisory Council W.A. has created a survey looking at the experiences that young people aged 15 to 25 years old in W.A. have in reference to volunteering and employment. Findings from the surveys will be used in the submission for the National Youth Commission Report. The survey closes on 25th November 2019. |
