the weekly Round-Up

A ROYALLY BIG WEEK Round-Up Readers!

We officially have a new King and Queen here in the UK! In case you didn’t catch the pomp, ceremony, and exquisite pageantry, here is a link to the highlights of the coronation on the BBC. London hotels really went all out with some amazing tributes and decor, for me the best was The Dorchester, which replicated the facade of the hotel's decorations from 1953. New study by Penn State and AHLA: women are making progress in hospitality leadership, according to the sixth annual report. But there is still plenty of room for improvement. One BIG takeaway, hotel investment conferences need more female moderators! We are working with the Women in Hospitality Leadership Alliance to create a list of women to give to conference organizers. If you have suggestions for this, email me.

AHLA ForWard conference in Chicago drew more than 600 women to hear notable speakers including Sheila Johnson of Salamander Hotels & Resorts, Julie Arrowsmith of G6 Hospitality, and more. Hertelier had several correspondents in attendance, so look for our full post with photos this week, but early reports––amazing! If you were at ForWard and want to share your thoughts, email me.

LONDONERS! LAST CHANCE! Our first "Morning Shift" event is on May 12th––click here if you want to attend! Despite an announced train strike, we are going ahead with the event as the Tube will still be running. Only two tickets remain to hear expert Dr. Raina Brands, who has devoted her career to studying women in the workplace. Dr. Brands will share the science behind informal networks, and explain how to use them to your advantage!
