Here in the Northern half of the planet, the Sun has reached its culmination point of the year, shining higher, brighter, and longer than any other day for another 364. It marks the ingress of Cancer season – the second season of our tropical zodiacal year. |

Cancer is a personal, yin, Cardinal Water sign, rule by the Moon. It was considered by ancient astrologers the embodiment of our deepest, most essential needs; our emotional security and nurturance, our pack / clan / tribe and our place in the world, as well as our habit patterns and underlying subconscious modi operendi. |

As for me, I've been prioritizing movement lately, mostly by design. The theme of this whole year for me is about change, accepting instability, going with the flow, leaning into the uncertain. I'm currently in my Uranus opposition year – the third of the three 'mid-life' planetary transits that every person experiences in their own way. This is the stereotypical, buy a red corvette, have an affair with someone half-your age, leave your spouse, quit your steady job to open a food truck.. transit. It is conventionally referred to as the "mid-life crisis."
Uranus is the planet astrologically associated with radical change, of breaking free from old, established ways of operating, shaking things up, getting you out of your comfort zone. Uranus is the archetypal rebel of the pack, the radical, the maverick.. not simply for the sake of being so, but so that it can progress to the next better level of itself. Uranus shakes awake the conventional, droning, trance-like mundanity of our 'regular' life to survey the surroundings from a wider, higher perspective – and make a change for the better, whether or not we want it or think we need it.
Two years ago I was determined to settle down, get a real job, establish roots, security, a daily routine, etc. I figured that since I've lead quite an unconventional life up until now, perhaps my Uranus transit would suggested that I could break free of that old way of living. I hoped that I could, for the first time in my life, break free from the limitations of financial, career, and geographical instability, and drop anchor somewhere for a while to become a 'normal' contributing member of society. But alas, for all my efforts toward stability, and resistance to continuing my vagabond trajectory, it was not meant to be. |

Last autumn, unable to wrastle my will into being, I realized that only further mad-making frustration would come from continuing to fight that fight. I succumbed to the conclusion that, dammit, my rambling ways were not yet behind me. So, these past few months I've been extending my spinnaker to the winds, holding on to the ropes, but not too tightly. I'm adjusting the lines as needed, and of course, continuing the job-hunt, as well. |

So, I've been accepting the changes as they come. While I may hope against hope, and try against trying, I'm not expecting the plans I make to come to fruition. I'm taking the next right action forward as well as the hints and winks from the universe in equal measure.
I have no idea what's coming over the horizon. But I'm glad you're here on the journey with me. |
