Research Insights:

Why do some women fake orgasms?

The fact that women sometimes fake orgasms is widely recognized, but the reasons behind this behavior may be less understood. One common reason is the belief that men "need" their partners to orgasm for their own sexual satisfaction. However, women who believe their partners genuinely care about their sexual pleasure are less likely to fake orgasms. Other reasons include difficulty reaching orgasm and environments characterized by hostile sexism. It is crucial to consider the specific gender beliefs women have internalized and how these beliefs may influence their sexual health.

What we are reading:

All in Her Head by Elizabeth Comen

Jean's pick: This book explores the history of women's healthcare as written by male physicians who viewed women as inferior versions of men. Dr. Comen examines how this biased narrative has led to gaps in women's medical research and our limited understanding of how diseases manifest differently in women compared to men.
