Here is how Riley’s journey to become the champ began!
Hey everyone, hope you are doing well! Thank you for being a monthly reader to the DOMO newsletter.
I wanted to give a brief introduction to you so you could learn a bit more about who I am and my personal involvement with DOMO. I started driving when I was 7 years old at the local go-kart track in New Braunfels, Texas and quickly I realized my love and passion for motorsports albeit at a very young age. I was fortunate enough to work my way up the karting ranks through the years, and ultimately I won the SKUSA Pro Tour in the S2 shifter kart class and was named National Champion in 2017. The following year (2018), I decided to start my transition from karts to cars. I got a Gen 1 1991 Mazda Miata so I could simply learn the basic fundamentals of driving a race car. The task of learning to drive a 3,000 pound car versus a 300 pound go-kart was a huge challenge for me! Toward the end of 2018, I connected with a local racing team in Austin that competed in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA. One thing led to another, and I found myself strapped in behind the wheel of a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Car for a test drive in August of 2018. I absolutely fell in love with Porsche and their platform with the GT3 Cup Challenge. I decided to take the plunge to compete in the championship full-time the following year. Fast forward to today, I’m 21 years old and this is my 5th year racing cars. I couldn’t be more fortunate to be living out my dream as that 7 year old kid who I started this journey all those years ago. I wouldn’t trade any of these lifelong memories in these past few years for the world!
I’ve had the pleasure of being a part of the Dove Nest Motorsports Club (DOMO) of Central Texas project from its very early days of conception. About two and a half years ago, Toan Leung came and introduced himself to me at an event at Porsche Austin. He recruited me for input on building a race track in Central Texas and I immediately saw the potential that his project had. There has been a lot of hard work, blood, sweat, and maybe some tears since that day, but I am very excited for the future of DOMO. The Off-Road program has been taking off recently with various partnerships and corporate events which we have been very pleased with. As far as the future developments on the horizon, we are currently working with Geotechnical engineers and Land Study crews to gather more and more information as we continue to develop DOMO into a world class, state of the art Motorsports facility! Thanks everyone, hope to see you at DOMO soon!
