Welcome to May's edition of the Charnwood AC newsletter. Firstly, we hope you are all safe and well, and keeping positive about the current situation. There are challenges understandably and we know that athletics is not the number one priority; please reach out and get in contact if you need to. This newsletter is a cut-down version reflecting the lack of opportunity for competition at present. However, there are a number of things to say and highlight so please read on! We held our first ever virtual committee meeting over Zoom a couple of weeks ago which was very successful. The committee discussed a few key topics, such as the club finances, membership fees, training opportunities and the planned Charnwood AC Open Events. As ever, if you have any news or photos, or want to contribute an article, then please email contact@charnwoodac.co.uk. |

Training Over the last few weeks training has obviously been impacted, more so for the field events than the runners but for everyone it has been a challenge. Despite this our coaching groups have been using social media to share training sessions, have held 5k and 3k handicap time trials, have done circuits together on Zoom and are generally keeping fit. The club continue to follow the guidance from England Athletics and the latest guidance is here. Please keep in contact with your coach to discuss your own training and how they can help. We are staying in contact with the University to understand if and when we can start using the track again. Not yet is the answer at the moment, either for individual use or for booking as a club night. Not withstanding the fact we can't book the track, there are a number of other hurdles for the club to overcome before we can run a training night again, such as handling cash and the use of the club house, along with whatever the applicable constraints are at the time. We will keep watching for the guidance from England Athletics. |

Membership As notified in the last update we have currently waived the usual increase in membership fees for late renewals. While the club is ok financially, this is not indefinite so we thank the 200 people who have already renewed their membership for the year. If you haven't yet renewed, please consider doing so if you are able to at this time. The costs that the membership covers e.g. registration with England Athletics, insurances, clubhouse maintenance, club equipment etc. all still need to be covered, and apply across the membership period i.e. Mar 20 - Mar 21. The online process is proving quite efficient as you can download the form, email it to us and we will accept payment of membership fees by bank transfer. For further details please click here. |
