Special Update

In-Person Lessons Resume Tuesday, May 12!

Students are thriving through online instruction, but we have missed seeing your smiling faces at the studio. We are excited to announce that we are planning to resume in-person services beginning May 12.

As a small consumer-oriented business which provides services to group sizes of less than 10, and in keeping with guidelines and regulations set forth by government and health officials, Piano Players will safely reopen with the following temporary protocols:

  • No one exhibiting any signs of illness will be allowed to attend class.

  • As instructors, we will be self-monitoring daily for signs of illness.

  • We have rearranged our piano lab so that all students will be seated a minimum of six feet apart. Where applicable, we will also be seating sibling groups at adjacent instruments.

  • In order to ensure minimum group size and maximize physical distancing, we will be asking that only students enter the studio during lessons. Family members may still use the lobby area if they wish.

  • Every student will be asked to sanitize their hands as they enter the studio. We will provide hand sanitizer.

  • Every keyboard, iPad, and high touch surface will be sanitized prior to and between each class.

  • We will temporarily be asking that each student brings their own (corded) headphones to each class. If you do not have access to headphones, we will provide you with a brand new sealed pair to use during this time.

  • Our HVAC system is specific to our studio only, and pulls in fresh outside air, rather than recirculating room or building air.

  • As instructors, we will temporarily be wearing face masks. Governor DeWine is mandating that clients wear face coverings as well, however, we are waiting on clarification as to what age groups may be expected to comply with this order.

  • Students should wait to enter the studio until students from a previous lesson have exited.

This week, we will be calling each of our families in order to discuss these changes and answer any questions or concerns. As always, your safety is our highest priority. We understand and respect that some families may not feel ready to transition back to in-person appointments at this time. As a solution, we will be broadcasting our lessons live through Zoom, so that students may choose to attend their scheduled class online and interact with instructors in real-time. If a student needs to miss an appointment due to illness, they may also attend through Zoom.

RCM Exams Update

Students who have registered for the May Exams should have received an email from the Royal Conservatory stating that examinations have now been moved to an online platform. Exams are now going to take place between June 1st and July 31st. Soon RCM will be asking students to reschedule their exams - please let us know as soon as you receive their message concerning scheduling and before you reschedule.

Give the Gift of Music!

The current pandemic is a great reminder of how much we need music! According to the NAMM (National Association of Music Manufacturers), the world is listening to and performing music in levels not seen since the 1980s!

If you know someone who is interested in starting or continuing their piano studies, please share this newsletter with them!
