For JULY 22 - August 4, 2019

Our lunchtime fishcakes are a local favourite! Changing daily, they incorporate a variety of styles, seafoods and flavours and we can make them gluten-free upon request!

Well, we are undeniably into summer now and we have a few fun things coming up over the next two weeks. We'll once again be offering Oysters On the Bay, this Sunday, July 28 from 4pm until close. Call and reserve your table, the weather forecast is looking great at this point! Reservations at 902 531-3313. $20 gets you a half dozen very delicious Sober Island Oysters and a 5oz glass of local white wine.  A nice way to begin a meal on our patio, as we will offer our regular menus as well, or just keep ordering oysters and call that dinner! $15 for a half dozen without the side of wine.  Oh, and Chef Misty says these oysters are the best she's ever tasted...

Join us on Wednesday, July 31 from 7-9pm for some great live music with touring musician Karen Morand! You can read all about Karen below.

Live Music

with Karen Morand

Wednesday, July 31, 7-9pm

Karen Morand -singer, songwriter & all ‘round nice gal!

Armed with original songs and feisty, powerhouse vocals, Karen Morand delivers a soul-stirring show. It’s lively, alt- folk with well-worn blues and gritty gospel on the side.

Karen radiates with energy in live performances both solo and when accompanied by BOSCO, her acoustic trio. A graduate from the University of Windsor’s music therapy program, Karen enjoys experimenting as a multi-instrumentalist - guitar, ukulele, accordion and the banjo. As a recipient of the 2016 Canada South Songwriting Contest, Karen’s songs celebrate the joys and broken parts of real life.

As always, our music offerings are non-ticketed and free of charge. Food purchase is not required!

Meet Justin F. Cribb, Line Cook

"I'm from Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador. I currently live in Lunenburg with my darling girlfriend Aida and our roommate Quinn.

I got into cooking by becoming enamoured with the Food Network in my teens. I watched a lot of “Good Eats” with Alton Brown and would say his scientific/ systematic approach to cooking really fascinated me.

In my spare time I like to drink beers with sunglasses on and I almost always have a project on the go in the kitchen. This week I've been making batches of mini-quiches to freeze as make-ahead breakfasts. My favourite hobby of all time is Magic the Gathering cards and I enjoy all forms of table-top/ board/ card games.

I wanted to work at Rebeccas because I've been seduced by the South Shore and really wanted to stay and work in Nova Scotia. I was lucky enough to know our head chef Misty through her work at NSCC and asked about employment about a month before I was set to graduate."

Justin F. Cribb enjoys french onion soup, black coffee, black metal, and black t-shirts. His favourite colour is orange.

Food News from Jess

Jessica Ali is a Registered Holistic Nutritionist and member of our front of house hospitality family!

Most of us have in our kitchens a humble, yet powerful ally in the fight against a variety of health problems: garlic. Thousands of research papers have been published pointing to garlic’s beneficial effect on heart disease, cancer, and infectious diseases. One study showed that eating ten cloves of raw or cooked garlic weekly decreases the chances of colorectal cancer by 30% and stomach cancer by 50%.

It has been touted since ancient times as a miraculous “cure-all”.

Garlic research took a dramatic leap in 1983 when New York University Medical Center researchers showed in lab tests that garlic oil inhibited the development of skin cancers. Garlic’s many health benefits, as confirmed by scientific studies, are 3 types: they help to treat infection, protect circulation, and fight various types of toxins.  At Rebecca's we use many, many cloves of garlic in the course of a day for a variety of our dishes. Dishes that heartily feature garlic include the steak sandwich, our mushroom wrap and of course, our tzatziki!

The weather has been soooo hot, and we encourage you to stay in the shade and drink lots of water. When it gets too hot in our kitchen we close up shop until it cools down enough to safely allow our staff to work. Check our socials or give us a call (902 531-3313) if you are planning a visit and wondering if we've had to shut for a few hours, we try to keep that info up to date!

With kindness,

Rebecca's
