Motivation During the Holidays

I hope this e-mail finds you safe and well!

As the Holidays approach and more sweet treats are available all around us, from goodies at work to Holiday parties, it becomes harder to resist and stay consistent with a healthy eating plan. Do you feel like your work outs are also getting squeezed out of your schedule? How do you react? Do you simply give in and forget about your good intentions? Or do you stay motivated and/or disciplined to stay strong and healthy during this time?

 

What comes to mind? Mindset Matters!

Are you a Motivation junkie like me? Ha! I could watch motivation videos forever! Love Oprah Winfrey? Steve Jobs? TedTalk videos can keep you glued for years to come! While motivation can be elusive, research suggests that discipline can carry us forward. Yet, discipline alone won't work unless the goals you want to reach are rooted in a strong WHY! Simon Sinek, in his book Start With Why can help you get to the root of your WHY. While written for business, its metaphors apply to understanding your WHY in life too.

Back to the Holidays, while it's easier to think about others' needs and there is definitely more JOY in giving than in receiving (just ask any parent), I would love to remind you that to take care of others, you need to take care of yourself first! As the saying goes, you can give more from a full cup!
