Chalkboard Washing

Chalkboard washing is a practical life work that teaches children to care for their environment. The child practices sequence and logic by going through a specific order to complete the task. She improves her gross motor skills by practicing coordination and carefulness in movement.

To begin, the child puts on the apron and sets up her supplies in order from left to right.

The child then takes the pitcher to the sink for water and returns to her work. She then uses the pitcher to fill her bowl.

The child takes the sponge, dips it into the bowl, squeezes out the excess water, then wipes the chalkboard vertically and then horizontally. This step is repeated until the child is satisfied.

Once complete, the child pours the used water into the bucket. She takes the bucket outside and pours it out. The child returns to her work and uses the towel to dry all of her tools.
