Good News for EV Buyers

You may have read that Tesla has dropped the price of its Model Y making it eligible for the $7500 Tax credit. But there are many other vehicles being added to the list for the tax credit, some very affordable, such as the Chevy Bolt. There are incentives for leased and used vehicles, as well. However, keep in mind that because the rules may change by mid-March, buyers should act fast on these EV opportunities. The complex regulations of the Inflation Reduction Act are explained in a recent issue of Consumer Reports.

More on the Inflation Reduction Act

By investing some $369 billion, the Inflation Reduction Act aims to take a first step toward mitigating climate change. For consumers, this means many long-term benefits, including reduced energy bills and health-care costs. But it’s the rebates and tax credits that will most directly benefit consumers by lowering the cost of emissions-reducing goods and services. For example, up to 30% tax credit on...

  • clean energy systems: like solar, wind, or geothermal, including the labor and fees for permitting, inspection, and development.

  • stand-alone batteries with more than 3 kilowatt-hours of storage.

Because there is no cap on expenditures, the 30% percent tax credit still holds and can roll over to future years.

Many of these details are detailed by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) in A Consumer Guide to the Inflation Reduction Act.

Solar Projects Near You

The Holmes County Democratic Party and WCSEN have teamed up to provide lighting on the Holmesville trailhead of the Holmes County Trail. The trail is a 23 mile multi-use facility serving cyclists, horses, skaters, buggies and pedestrians from Killbuck to Glenmont. It attracts locals and tourists who enjoy both its beauty and functionality. The solar project will illuminate the trailhead and parking lot for a few hours beginning at dusk daily.
