So, hands up those of you who can't believe that the summer solstice has already been and gone! I'm not quite sure how we've arrived at the turn of the year, but apparently we have, and I don't know about you, but in my opinion, we've had nowhere near enough summer yet! I'm still longing for the feel of sun on skin and gentle breezes to stir the scent of flowers and freshly mown grass. Sitting outside on a warm evening with a book in my hand and a glass of something cool by my side... the reward after a busy day. Fingers crossed we get some gorgeous summery sunshine soon! Of course at this time of year, I would usually be busy writing my Christmas book, and trying to ignore the lure of the countryside. Filling my head instead with images of snowy landscapes and sparkling lights, Christmas trees and mugs of hot chocolate, but although I've had a very busy few weeks, it isn't Christmas I've been writing about over the last few weeks, but more of that later... One thing I have been doing however is giving my latest book it's final tweaks ready to send out into the world. And I'm so very excited to be share this one with you. Unashamedly romantic, and set on a tiny island off the wild shores of Scotland, it's a story about holding onto hope and the incredible things we do for love... |

So what's it about...? At the bottom of the meadow is a tiny crescent of beach, and beyond it the wild grey sea. I’ve pictured this view in my head so many times, and now I’m here, I know it will change everything. The whitewashed cottage with a peeling green painted door to my right must be his house… When Abby steps off the ferry and onto the tiny island of Kinlossay, she squeezes her daughter’s hand and prays this trip will be the escape they both so desperately need. For now, at least, Beth is safe from the bullies making her life a misery, and perhaps Abby might find out more about the mysterious man behind the letters she’s been receiving…
Cameron first got in touch to see if Abby’s shop stocked his favourite book. And has written every day since to tell her of his life on his rugged little island, where buttercups dance on rolling fields and the sky never stops moving. The weekend he once came to visit her - singing with Beth in the kitchen, kissing Abby’s lips so tenderly - is a memory she will treasure forever. But then, one day, the messages stopped. Abby received the heartbreaking news that Cameron had passed away.
As she watches her daughter run laughing along the windswept beaches he described so perfectly, Abby wonders if this goodbye trip could also be a new beginning. But then she sees a face across the street that she recognises instantly, and her heart shatters. If Cameron is dead, who is this man? What devastating secrets has this little island been keeping? The truth will change Abby and her daughter’s life forever –
but only if they let it…
Lose yourself on the wild shores of a remote island in this absolutely gripping and heart-wrenching story about holding on to hope and the incredible things we do for love. |

As many of you know, I earn my living by writing full time so, like other contracted authors, coming to the end of a current contract can be a very nerve wracking and daunting time – praying that your previous books have been commercially successful, and hoping that your publisher will like your new ideas enough to contract you for more. I've been over the moon with how well the first in my new cosy mystery series, The Mystery at Montague House, has performed, but also that so many readers have taken the time to tell me how much they enjoyed it. I absolutely loved writing it, so much so, that I'm really keen to write some more. So, I began to put together some ideas for a new potential series of mysteries and was absolutely overjoyed that my publishers loved the idea of them too, the result of which is that they've contracted me to write four, yes four, new books for them. I couldn't be happier! I haven't stopped writing women's fiction titles, so the new contract is in addition, but it's a very exciting new direction for me, and one which I hope will bring my stories to lots of new readers too. |
