THE HOME OF LOG CABINS

VISIT OUR WEBSITE

WELCOME

We always seem to start these preambles with talk about the weather, but when you work outside year round (and being British) these things are important! If you follow us on Instagram you'll have seen projects that just a few weeks ago were under snow, are now surrounded by trees that are in full leaf and fields bursting with swaying wheat. The stabilising weather and the occasional warm day have put a spring in our step in the last few weeks and we are busier than ever. We're working on some really exciting new cabins and have more coming down the line which the whole team is looking forward to getting stuck into. We hope to showcase them here and on social media over the coming months.

Whatever line of work you are in, we hope you're also able to make the most of the warmer weather, are looking forward to a summer break and hopefully dreaming about your log cabin project!

WHERE TO SEE OUR CABINS

We are often asked where people can see our finished cabins and while many are private homes, we have built holiday accommodation right across the country. We have put a new page on our website showing you where these are located with links to each site, so you could be sleeping in a genuine British Log Cabin before you know it!

MEET THE TEAM
Continuing our series and introducing you to our team, this month we meet Zeph, the second of our two Team Leaders.

Name: Zeph Gottschalk

Job title: Log Builder & Team Leader

How did you get into log building?

I was just driving past the yard one day and spotted the cabins being built. I've always loved building with timber and have a lot of experience in timber construction so knew I was going to love this job. I just decided to pop in and talk to the guys at BLC and rest as they say is history!

What do you enjoy most about log building?

I really enjoy cutting the windows out as it changes the whole look of the cabin massively and the building goes from a shell with four walls to an actual cabin.

Which has been your most memorable build to date and why?

I'm really enjoying the one I'm working on at the moment as it is the first cabin build I have led as Team Leader. I've loved running the project and seeing it all come together.

Tell us something about yourself

I love getting out and about in my spare time especially hiking in places I've never been before.

That's all for this month. Do follow us on Instagram and Facebook for regular project updates and inspiration. And if you're planning (or still just dreaming of) your own log cabin project, be sure to check out our blog articles for some really useful, practical information on how to get started.
