BISHOP STEPHEN COTTRELL today
We are delighted to welcome our diocesan Bishop to the 10am Mass as principal celebrant and preacher. This is his last visit to us as Bishop of Chelmsford; later this year he will become the 98th Archbishop of York. To celebrate, after Mass there will be drinks and canapés upstairs in the community hall.
PANCAKE DAY Tuesday 10.30
Please come along on Shrove Tuesday for Mass at 10.30am after which we will give the church its customary spring clean.
LENT begins Wednesday
All Christians are obliged to attend Mass on Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent (the church’s spring) so called because of the tradition of marking the foreheads of the faithful with an ash cross – a sign of Lenten penitence. Solemn Mass - with ash imposition - is at 8pm.
LENT PROGRAMME
Printed copies of the Lent programme for 2020 are available at the back of church. Please take one for your planning of Lent.
MIRFIELD RETREAT deposit due next Sunday
Those booked on the retreat, please put your non-refundable deposit of £150 in an envelope with your name on and hand it to Emma Jeffrey by next Sunday. CORONA VIRUS – CofE GUIDANCE
Those with coughs and sneezes are asked not to shake hands and to receive only the Host (consecrated bread) at Communion. Intinction – dipping the Host into the wine - could also transmit infection and so should be avoided.
