Hello Again Friends! Welcome to the 6th installment of the ATJM Newsletter! Over the last month I have been in a place of reevaluation, which I feel as a business owner you have to do OFTEN. More often than I particularly like. However, as someone who found herself engulfed in business ownership for spiritual reasons, I must understand that the plan I have for myself may not at all be the plan that God has set out for me. A lot of my lessons in business have been the same lessons I've struggled with in my personal life. Setting proper boundaries, speaking up for myself, showing up with the confidence that I should, or knowing when to walk away. I feel like at this juncture, God has placed people in my life to show me that I am supported, that I am on the right path and that it's truly only me that has been standing in my way. It's extremely rare to find someone who genuinely wants to see you grow, and genuinely wants to see the collective grow through your work. I believe in each of my clients, I believe in their work and the impact that it has on our community. What's so beautiful now is that I'm being presented with more opportunities to serve clients who also SEE me. They value my point of view, they take interest in my goals, and they support me with their willingness to try and understand my objectives. I have always had a desire to be of service to something greater than myself. I now get to serve people who are not only impacting the world with their work, but understand & thoroughly support me in my desire to do the same. I thought I had properly identified who my ideal clients should be. Turns out I was wrong. Turns out that I belong in lanes I never dreamed of being in. Turns out God had greater plans than I had for myself. I'm now within company that recognizes, appreciates, and supports the need for me to be impactful in my work. I do this work because I am called to do it, because I have a multitude of God given skills that are intended to be used for specific purposes and to support specific people. Being clear in my boundaries at work, speaking up for myself, and knowing when to walk away all would have brought me here sooner. But I' m here NOW, and I'm grateful. The journey that leads to the destination is JUST as important as the destination itself. Thank you all so much for your continued support. |

Dr. Faith Summersett Williams is the founder and director of the Implementation science + Health Equity Advancement Lab (I+HEAL) at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. She is trained as a clinical pediatric psychologist and currently working as an implementation scientist focused on bringing evidence-based alcohol and drug use interventions to adolescents with chronic medical conditions. She conducts her research in a variety of settings such as pediatric hospital inpatient units, outpatient clinics, and school-based health centers. When she is not working to make the world a better place, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two and three-year-olds, and mother. She also enjoys reading, heated yoga, and meditation. Faith is one of my dearest friends and has been an instrumental part of my life since we were in the 9th grade. To be adults and have the opportunity to work with and support one another in our careers is nothing but a direct blessing from God. She, like myself, tends to shy away from highlighting her accomplishments and accepting the abundance of flowers in which she absolutely deserves. She is a SUPERWOMAN, a scientist. Literally doing the work that has and WILL save lives across the world. ATJM is honored to have the opportunity to support Faith, a leading force in global health equity science. She has, and will continue to change the world. Thank you for everything you do for our community! |
