Welcome to 2021!

First off, thank you, thank you, thank you for all of your encouragement through 2020, and your continued support as we head into 2021.

  • Despite a rough year for everybody, we got the ball rolling on a ton of exciting initiatives last year, and we're looking forward to even more progress in the months ahead.
  • This issue, we’ll be catching you up on all the partnerships and products we debuted last year, and giving you a preview of how we’ll keep the momentum going this year. Stay tuned for regular updates as the year goes on!
  • None of this would be possible without the unprecedented financial support all of you gave us in 2020. You can continue helping us fund our initiatives here – whatever you can give is greatly appreciated.
  • If you’re an educator / educational institution, non-profit, or corporation interested in partnering with us, we’d love to hear from you: contact us here.

1.  Staying on our grind

We didn’t let the pandemic keep us down – we shot our shot with some of the biggest educational institutions and non-profits out there, and put together partnerships and workshops with:

Since our official launch on Jul 3, 2020, we’ve created workshops and delivered content impacting over 200 students, and we’re just getting started.

2. The higher-ed ROI calculator

Student loan debt has hit $1.75 trillion. Even before COVID hit, 11% of borrowers couldn’t keep up with their loan payments.

This year, we’ve used official data from the Department of Education to give students unprecedented insights into the true cost of college. Our one-of-a-kind tool calculates estimated debt load, average salaries for different majors and career paths, and how much time you’ll need to pay back your loans.

Special thanks to MIT for access to their cost-of-living dataset, which we’ll be integrating in early 2021!

3. Find Your Genius

We believe that everyone has Genius Level Talent, but sometimes, they need a little help to find it and maximize it. The FYG Scholarship aims to give college students that opportunity.

We helped our inaugural winner, Antonia Seegars, pursue her dreams of bringing a queer, female, BIPOC perspective to the visual arts. One of her first short films, “The Marathon of Don,” tells the story of an anxious girl from the inner city, searching for liberation from the things embedded in her blood.

What's next: We’ll be running this back and potentially expanding the program this year – stay tuned to our website for this year’s application details and deadlines!

4. Office Hours and Workshops

COVID turned the whole world virtual, and students bore the brunt of this, through digital classes, internet networking, and Zoom job interviews.

We helped students make the most of a bad situation, leading workshops with Breakthrough Cincinnati, Miami University, and other institutions and non-profits to teach students how to navigate digital career fairs, put together polished resumes, and figure out their purpose.

Through Office Hours, we also helped connect students with mentors across functions and industries, to expose them to new career paths, help them prepare for interviews, and land them job offers.
