EHS Girls Soccer 2020

** Important Update **  Important information from Eagan High School Athletic Director regarding fall sports that the board received today and was asked to pass on to families.  Please take a few minutes to read through it completely.

1.      Fall Sports.  Due to the COVID 19 there are many questions about fall sports at schools.  We don’t have all the answers at this time.  We are moving forward and planning as if all sports are going to happen as they normally do.  We will know more after the announcement from the State of MN about schools opening in fall. That announcement will be made on July 27, 2020.  When we know what schools will look like, then the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) the organization overseeing high school sports, will be able to determine what fall sports look like. Thank you for your flexibility as we travel this road.  We will not have any more answers until the end of July on sports.

2.      Physical needed to play a sport.   To participate in a sport a current physical must be on file in infinite campus (A current physical is within three years and valid through the state tournament of the sport you are signing up for at Eagan.) The MSHSL has extended the expiration date of some physicals – see statement from the Mn State High School League directly below the next sentence.  If your student meets the dates to extend their physical, email Emilie.Kennedy@district196.org with the name of your child and she can look it up and will extend the physical date for you if he or she fits the timeline.

 Three Year Physical Clearance Extension

The MSHSL Board of Directors Executive Committee approved the extension of the expiration date of the Three-Year Physical Clearance.
*A student with a three-year clearance that expires at any time from March 12, 2020 through the conclusion of the 2020-2021 school year will have the clearance extended through the completion of the 2020-2021 school year.
*Each student must still complete the annual health history questionnaire.
*Any student who had not previously participated and who does not have medical clearance to participate will be required to have a physical and be cleared to participate.

3.      How do I sign my child up for a sport or activity?

Your student must be signed up for the sport on My Payments Plus.  (This system is replacing Fee Pay) Sport signups and My Payments Plus will not be available until August 3. 2020.  We will be sending out information on how to sign up for My Payments Plus when we have it at the end of July.  Parents will be able to create their My Payments Plus accounts starting on July 27, we will send instructions on this.   If you are on free and reduced assistance with the district, My Payments Plus will automatically handle that  with the payment.  Please email the Eagan Athletic Department with questions after August 3. emilie.kennedy@district196.org    Remember, you cannot sign up before August 3 for a sport or activity.

4.        Preseason PAC meetings (parent, player, coach).

Our pandemic/preparedness district team will determine if PAC meetings can be held in our building.   The link below is where you enter your request with your plan for keeping people apart and safe. Right now only 25 people total can meet in a space like the commons.  At this point I would assume that food cannot be served  We should know more at the end of July but, perhaps stager times for age groups or only one adult in the family attends.   If approved to be in person meeting, there should be a plan to get information to people that cannot or choose not to attend in the building.

5.      Captains practices   in a normal year, the school does not oversee captain’s practices. However, due to the pandemic, all captain’s practices must be approved through our pandemic/Preparedness team at District 196.   The Minnesota Department of Health Regulations must be followed.    Captains/boosters may not organize any activity with their teams without approval through District 196.  A District 196 person should be overseeing any captains practices to make sure athletes are following the rules.

Spontaneous recreation is not controlled by the school, so if 3 or 4 friends arrange to get together, that is up to the parents.

6.      Fundraisers that involve people together.    MYAS Tournaments, golf tournaments, face to face  or door to door sales  etc.  All Fundraisers to support our Eagan teams where people interact  must also be approved by the Pandemic/Preparedness District 196 Team.   Questions on safety and following MN Department of Health Guidelines must be followed.  You will need to inform them how you are following these and keeping people safe and meeting guidelines.

7.      NEW - Eagan Athletics Website.   We are launching a new Eagan Athletics Website at the end of July on Sports Engine.   All programs will eventually merge into this site.  If you currently have sports engine or a non-rSchool site we will create a link for you to the your site and you can transition to Sports Engine during the year.

If you are on rSchool – you will need to transition this month as that site will disappear.    Emilie Kennedy will be in contact with the head coach for parent names who can be given access on the new sports engine website so they can move items to sports engine.

[if anyone has experience with Sports Engine - we could use your help migrating to the new platform]

Again, we will send another email when we have the sign up information for sports and the new website address to share.   We will also send out an overview of where each sport will meet on the first day of practice, coach contact and other key  information

Thank you for all of your support and flexibility!
