President's Address President Frank Tyler reminded audiences of the rich educational legacy of Russell Grove Schools. The emphasize our purpose to preserve the building and historical legacy. He urge people to join and support scholarship. Scholarships, he explained were the main goal of our organization. Applaud our Giving Over the past 15 years, RGA has given 50 scholarships to qualifying and deserving students attending 4-year and 2-year colleges and universities as well as trade schools. Students Receive Scholarships and Book Awards for 2018 Five high school graduates were awarded $1,500 RGA scholarships each for the 2018 academic school year. Recipients are Kayla Harris (Spelman College), Ametria Booker (Ferrum College), Jade Perry (Virginia State University), Aarion Booker (Cowan College) and Cameron Harris (Notre Dame College - Ohio). Three returning college students, Tyesen Barley, D'Iveyon Braxton-Hicks and Tatyanna Sutton, each received RGA's $500 book award. 2019 Scholarship Applications are now available. Click here |

Dr. Henry J. Featherston, Jr. “Doc” served as the 5th president of the Russell Grove Association from 2006 - 2014. Under his leadership, the Association increased the number of academic scholarships awarded to deserving students. Dr. Featherston has a long history with Russell Grove Schools, dating back to his arrival in Amelia County in 1963. He was a teacher, coach, band director, and mentor to generations of students. He touched the lives of many teachers, staff and parents in the Russell Grove School community. He was laid to rest in May 2018. |

I. Belle Atkins. Miss Isaac Belle Atkins, 98, of Red Oak, was a retired teacher at Russell Grove High School, where she taught English for many years. She was a generous and long time supporter of RGA's educational programs. Miss Atkins was laid to rest mid February 2019. |

Mabel Wilkinson Thronton Mrs. Thronton, a highly respected educator in DC Public Schools and the greater metropolitan area, graduated with honors in 1941, from Russell Grove High School. She graduated magna cum laude from VUU with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, and began her teaching career in her home county of Amelia. She passed away December 2018. |
