Dear Friends, If we seem giddy about moving to our new location, let us acknowledge that leaving our current location - our first - also touches our heart. We've heard from many volunteers and people, who've come to know Middleway as a place of peace, comfort and hope, that leaving is a bit sad. From great books to art supplies and places to sit with soothing music or to talk about your soul, the walls of Middleway have soaked up and lent themselves to prayerful laughs, tears, surprise, realizations and a host of other emotions. We don't leave it lightly. So, we focus on the last word of our mission - hope. We have not known from our start in 2020 where or how we could continue. But we have taken one step at a time, and we are able to continue in a new place. There, we know we will be able to put in place the peace and comfort we are known for. Hope follows. Our hope is that you will stop by our current place, 309 N. Tabor, Bryan, this week as it is our last week there. We will close Sept 16-30 to get moved and set up in the new location, 1101 Rock Prairie, College Station. And we hope you will come there, too, as of Oct. 1. |

Deadline: last retreat at our original location! Setting the Spiritual Woman Free Women are invited on a journey, mapped to help open hearts and minds to a different way of knowing the trinity of God through the life and experiences of the women in the Bible. The program will use the concept of “imaginal” to enlighten the path. Presented by Dr. Vivian Dawkins, a spiritual director from Spring, TX, the event will be Saturday, Sept. 14, 9 a.m.-Noon. Register by Tuesday, Sept. 10. “To untangle and set free the spirit of the woman inside each of us takes an effort on our part to imagine the ‘imaginal,’” Dawkins said. “We’ll consider the liminal space where God is more distinctly present than the objective space where our ‘normal’ and ‘traditional’ reality reside.” She said the morning will help unravel centuries of rules and regulations designed to enforce conformity in Christian belief and faith that may have left women confused, frustrated, and entangled. Come join us for a short journey designed to help free a woman’s spirit and find the divine within our souls. The program is free, but registration is required. | | |

Discerning Leaders: A Half-Day Retreat at Middleway Monastery We're excited to offer our first retreat in our new location -- Oct. 26, 9 a.m.-Noon, 1101 Rock Prairie Road. This one is offered to all who desire to deepen their discernment of where God might be leading in a volatile, unpredictable, complex, ambiguous world, according to Rev. Andrew Terry, an Episcopal priest from Houston who will lead the event. "This kind of discernment can only happen in community," he said. The retreat is especially useful for all people who have volunteered or attended programs at Middleway - or plan to - as well as people and clergy from any church. Registration will begin in October. |
