These are grass roots cyclocross races that will be held at Layritz Park. Courses will be open to ride at 3pm on Friday with first races starting at 4pm. No call ups for these races, meaning we aren’t lining up racers by points, this will be a head to head race so show up like you have something to prove! Blackout CX is a non-UCI event, so no race license required but highly recommended. If you don’t have a racing license, a 1 day license fee of $10 will be added to registration. Categories are self-selecting and age appropriate. We know, it will get dark… We will be setting up light towers for certain parts of the course, but we recommend also using a bright handlebar light! Absolutely no helmet lights allowed. | | |

The UCI rules for CYCLO-CROSS state "For the cyclo-cross bicycle the width of the tire (measured between the widest parts) shall not exceed 33 mm and it may not incorporate any form of spike or stud. While the rule will be strictly enforced for Elite, U23, and Junior categories, there will be some leeway for other categories to account for variances due to rim width and tire size. Tires should indicate 33mm width and the rear of the bike should not lift when the tire width gauge is applied. |

Saanich blends both the rural and urban on southern Vancouver Island. More than 114,000 people live there giving it the largest population on the island. The district borders six other municipalities, including British Columbia's capital, Victoria. The distance from Victoria International Airport to Saanich is 20km and from the Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal is 36km. It offers immediate access to a wide selection of hotels and restaurants, while also offering great cycling access through dedicated bike lanes, the Galloping Goose Trail, and the Lochside Trail. Elk Lake and Beaver Lake offer excellent trails for hiking or trail running. |
