STEMulating Summer 3.0!

Highlights 

The Region 4 STEM Network Center is pleased to announce the resounding success of its STEMulating Summer 3.0 Initiative. The initiative was comprised of the Acadiana STEM Fest, held in May, and a series of seven (7) camps held in June and July. This summer's camps included STEM Olympics, Environmental Deep Dive 2, and the NASA Astro camp, among others. A total of approximately 4,000 K-12 students were impacted throughout the region.

Region 4 STEM Network Center is proud to announce a partnership with two new organizations:

 

Hope for Opelousas - an organization focused on community development through educational support, neighborhood outreach, and intentional relationships in the Opelousas area.

Livingston Hurdles - a nonprofit agency in St. Martin Parish that coordinates, develops, and provides services dedicated to promoting the positive growth and development of youth and families.

 

We are excited to help support these two organizations with their summer activities, and look forward to great opportunities in the future!

2023 Annual LaSTEM Summit

Join us in the upcoming yearly LASTEM Summit, set to take place in Lafayette, Louisiana. This event will bring together educators, industry experts, and institutions to leverage the potential of STEM education and its alignment with the demands of the 21st-century workforce. Attendees will have the opportunity to witness thought-provoking speakers, immersive workshops, and state-of-the-art presentations. Prepare to be motivated and equipped to drive meaningful change. HASP 2024 Call For Payloads

Interested in building a payload to fly on a high-altitude balloon to the edge of space? The call is out for payloads for the High Altitude Student Platform (HASP).

HASP can support up to 12 student payloads (providing power, telemetry and commanding) during a flight to an altitude of 122,000 feet for up to 20 hours.

Quality Science & Mathematics Grant Program 

The Quality Science and Math (QSM) Grant Program is now accepting grant applications for the 2023-2024 grant cycle. The QSM Grant Program offers up to $2000 to PK-12 public school teachers who are looking for a way to purchase instructional materials and equipment for their math, science, or STEM class.

 

Eligible teachers need to demonstrate how these resources will elevate teaching for regular students during standard school hours, excluding Special Education and after-school programs.

Virtual Reality Laboratory Experiences

Interested in engaging your students in simulated laboratory Virtual Reality experiences without the need for a lab? The University of New Orleans is organizing a FREE virtual reality lab series beginning with

a density experience that provides content understanding and preps

students for lab activities. The activity requires about 30 minutes per 3 students and can occur over several hours to include more participants.
