đź’›PET OF THE MONTHđź’› Rosie the Riveter-She loves walks and belly rubs and sleeping on the bed. She thinks she can sit in your lap and play like a small dog. She is great with cuddles but gets a little excited with her paws. Super energetic and full of energy. She loves every person that she meets and has to say hi. Even saying hi with a hug and face wash to the police officers she got to meet one day. She needs to be the only animal in the family where she is at. We are looking for a foster or a forever home to get her out of boarding. |

💛TRAINER TIP OF THE MONTH💛 When you are training your dog, it is very important to make sure you are training the dog and the dog isn’t training you. If you are giving the dog a command, such as, “Sit,” then it is very important that you don’t repeat the command to the dog. YOU SHOULD ONLY SAY THE COMMAND ONCE. If the dog does not comply with the command on the first attempt, then with NO REPEATING, put the butt into a sit and still praise the dog by saying, “Good sit,” Praise. If you continue to say, “Sit! Sit! Sit! SIT,” then the dog is training you when they want to sit and not taking you seriously in their training. Classes or Private lessons, Call Sonya at 702-860-0234 |

💛TEETH TIP💛 As many owners know, dogs are prone to gum disease, which can cause smelly breath, and tooth loss. What many don’t know is that small dogs are much more prone to gum disease, and often get it at a younger age. It is the number one medical problem in small dogs, and 90% have it by the time they are one year old. Genetics and behaviors play a role, but so does the care you can provide. If a dog's teeth aren’t being cleaned, there will be a plaque buildup, which is the ultimate cause of gum disease. Plaque builds back up in 24 hours, and without removal, can become tartar. Gum disease can cause a plethora of other medical issues in dogs, such as a hole in between their nose and mouth, a fragile jaw bone, heightened risk of oral cancer, and even issues with their heart. The health and lifespan of dogs with unmaintained teeth is comparable to that of human smokers.
