December 2021

Greetings to you, our supporters!

Here's what we've been up to since our last report

THE END OF 2021

A great shot of Pete, in the middle of the year, fundraising to WA farmers

We would like to take this opportunity to again thank our amazing supporters with donations EFY strong, allowing us a healthy budget into next year. Some of you give faithfully month after month and its amazing how far that deposit will go.

When you think about the fact that most workers there earn less than $5 per day, (about the cost of a cappuccino here !)  Also, when you receive this email, we would really appreciate  a quick  reply, to confirm your address is current .....

So A Very Merry Christmas to you all and your loved ones

From Peter and Lesley

and our faithful committee:

Kay (finance); Tim and Sharon; Tammy and Joe; Nikita and Chris; Ross;

and our newest member Gamu   ( from Zimbabwe).

September 25th Tiamoyo's Village Picnic was successful in raising a modest deposit

due to generous participants...despite attendance being minimal. The date was clearly not suitable due to many other events coinciding. We will keep calm and carry on . Thank you to the tremendous effort of the volunteers on the day - it was a great reunion of friends and supporters.

Meanwhile in Tanzania

Machinery arrived:  After the usual drama clearing the machinery at the wharf, Polycarp’s men were able to bring the three  2 wheel tractors back to Arusha.

Our large tractor will continue to work the larger areas, but these smaller machines will be a huge blessing to the smaller farmers.

If you watch the YouTube video below you can get an idea of how versatile they are.  It is great to see them being used in Zimbabwe.  We will build trailers for them, which will hold a small Boom Sprayer at planting time and be used all year for carting all kinds of produce and materials.  The little 'no-till' planters will give more farmers access to improved technology and hence improved yeilds from their crops.  The little tractors can also be used as a power source for things like  pumping water and driving threshing machines.

  • Young farmer Prince Chimemah is one of 15 service providers offering mechanization services to smallholder farmers in rural Masvingo District, in southern Zimbabwe

Dawar News    Polycarp has been training Meshek to pastor the church and launch the new school in Dawar village.  The school will be opening next year.  Meshek is also going to be managing the machinery at Dawar and will work with the farmers.  He is keen to also investigate other income generating ventures such as fish and chicken farming to support the ministry and to help lift the community out of poverty.

Jonès update  He has received a set of machinery and will be demonstrating and training farmers in his area down at Morogorro.

Upper Kiteti  We have given another set of machinery to the church at Upper Kiteti.   This is a photo below of Pastor Mathew (holding the machine).   The church has hosted our workshop for 4years and been a huge support to us and we wanted to be able to bless these precious people for all their goodness to us.

2022 The Trip

His brand new position as a chaplain (FIFO - mining company) will allow Peter opportunity to continue taking time off to complete the charity's necessary tasks in Tanzania.. With requests and permission sought to leave and return to our borders, there may still be a requirement to quarantine on his return . He is looking to travel during March although it is after the first season of planting.

Anticipating a successful arrival, Peter will organise  :

a) Moving the workshop to Agape Bible college in Arusha

b) Making trailers and boom sprayers.

c) Establishing a basic farm training course at Agape to train the pastors so they can teach improved farming systems to their people
