MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT Kelly Blanchard JWL 2021-2022 President |
We have a busy year ahead of us. To kick things off, the Provisional Committee has implemented a two class structure for incoming Provisional members. It is our hope that this will make JWL more accessible to potential members and more inclusive for our current members, allowing Provisionals to join the ranks of General membership earlier. We are eager to see what new ideas our Provisional members will bring to strengthen our league and thank them for joining JWL as we excitedly enter our seventh year of service. Over the last six years we have worked with numerous partner organizations and will continue our community impact programs. Together we have learned a great deal and are delighted by the support we’ve received from our membership, and are hoping our collective experience will serve to strengthen our projects. Back in the fall of 2015, seven women came together with the vision to form a women's community service organization in Johnston County. Through their passion and commitment to serve those in their community, they recruited 119 like-minded women. |
As we go forward, it is important that we remember to remain strong in our mission of promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. That means everything we do this year will help shape us into leaders with the ability to make a real and lasting impact on our community. We would like to thank all of the Active Sustainers who remain on this journey with us and the General Members who have recommitted for another year. Our Active Sustainers are our history, reminding us where we come from, while our General Members and Provisional Members provide the vision to determine where we are going. All are an integral part of the Junior Women's League of Smithfield. We would also like to thank all of JWL's donors and sponsors. We look forward to continuing our relationship with you, since without your support we could not be the women as catalysts for lasting change in Johnston County.
Warmest Regards, Kelly Blanchard |

Touch-A-Truck is a unique and interactive fundraiser that allows children to see, touch, and safely explore their favorite big trucks and heavy machinery, as well as to meet the personnel who protect, serve, and build Johnston County communities. The event is fun for children and adults alike and will also feature food trucks, inflatables, special guests, face painting, and so much more! Admission is FREE! $5 wristbands will be available to purchase for inflatables, face painting, etc.
We are in need of more sponsors and unique trucks as proceeds from Touch-A-Truck will benefit House of Hope of North Carolina in Clayton. House of Hope is a therapeutic school, home, and counseling center for hurting and vulnerable girls, ages 12-17, and their families. While living at the house the girls will work through a 3 Phase program, earning responsibility and privileges as they go while learning life skills in a safe and secure atmosphere. House of Hope's goal is to help heal each family member and bring reconciliation to the family as a whole. JWL appreciates the community support received thus far and looks forward to partnering with more businesses to reach our fundraising goal.
An event overview flyer, sponsorship details, links to truck and sponsorship registration forms and more are available on our website.
