Mountain Matters A Moment on The Mountain |

Thank you for being a part of The Mountain |
Hey there, it's been a while! Did you miss us? The Mountain misses you. This would have been the time of year when we really get into the swing of 'the season', with guests arriving and departing daily, always something cooking in the Dining Hall, chatter and song and the sounds of life filling The Mountain's campus. We miss the feeling of community and service and the knowledge of the rewarding work being done here. But for now we wait, just like you. The past few months here at The Mountain have been a true roller coaster of emotions while we try and settle into our new daily routines. Even though our programming is currently suspended The Mountain continues to thrive and grow while preparing for what is ahead. It is with the support from our far-reaching Mountain Friends and Family that we are carried over troubled waters and into a brighter tomorrow. Thanks to all of your contributions we can continue to make improvements, tend to our land and infrastructure, take care of our employees and work to host exemplary programming that inspires us to build a better tomorrow today. The Many Hands Peace Farm has opened a roadside farm stand selling fresh 'happy chicken' eggs and plant starts, tinctures, salves and more! The Kitchen Staff is back in full swing and gearing up for visitors to start returning by trying out new recipes and keeping the Staff and Volunteers fed and happy. Volunteers are starting to trickle in and have made all the difference keeping up with maintenance needs and making our spaces sparkle. None of this would be possible if it wasn't for the love, care, and kindness of countless individuals rallying behind us and giving the extra push we need to financially withstand the Covid-19 shutdown. But we are not out of the woods yet... which is why We are asking that between now and May 26th you contribute to our Firespring Matching Fund. EVERY DOLLAR DONATED WILL BE MATCHED by a conglomerate of nonprofits who have come together to help small businesses during this time. Double the impact your donations dollars can make right here in the place you care for. Please follow the link below, and again Thank You so much from Everyone here at The Mountain. - Matthew DeMond, Head of Development |

We are thinking of all of our MountainCamp families at this time and are wishing you health and safety during this unknown period. MountainCamp 2020 is still in the decision making process. We are currently waiting on additional guidelines from our governor, the American Camping Association and the CDC for overnight summer camp and what that may look like for MountainCamp 2020. We expect to know more information soon and will have an announcement in the coming weeks. We are continuing to work diligently to preserve The Mountain experience that so many of all ages hold dear to their hearts. We understand that many families are experiencing hardships, unknowns and general anxiety during this pandemic. MountainCamp has been an anchor each summer for so many families for the past 41 years and even if we can not physically be together this summer, we will be together again soon. The Mountain will be waiting with open arms and healing spirit when the time comes that we can gather again. If need be please use this form below to formally request a refund for your child's 2020 summer camp registration fees. |

Offerings from friends of The Mountain - Spiritual Companionship |
In these challenging and changing times with many distractions, we can easily miss the invitations of Spirit//the universe//the still small voice within, guiding us towards meaning and purpose. Consider making time to intentionally pull attention inward, and explore with a spiritual companion. Nancy Bragg and Berry Shepherd are spiritual companions, who completed the interfaith Spiritual Guidance program at the UU Retreat Center in Rowe, MA. They are graciously offering monthly one-hour one-on-one spiritual companionship sessions through July to those who donate to The Mountain. Sessions are available for a sliding scale donation to The Mountain of $25+/session (going WNC rate is $50-$60 per session). |

‘We had a tremendous outpouring of support and generosity from many who share a love of The Mountain that we would like to acknowledge and thank.’ Reflecting we are grateful for the opportunities and lives that we have been able to impact through our generational history. Here is what some community members have reached out to say: "Each day through mindful self-care and meditation, I chant to bring back good health and humanity to peace and back to my center that I received on the Mountain. The Mountain transformed me to strength within for personal, spiritual and professional success, I am forever grateful for. One day I will return to the Mountain and will be able to give back when this point in time passes through." Kwan Seum Bol Sahl, Doug Kim Bai Wilmington, NC "I really enjoyed your wonderful Easter Basket. Thank you so much for this! It brought a tear to my eye to see once again the beautiful places I love at The Mountain, and renewed my excitement about being able to be there once again, hopefully soon! It was upsetting to go without WomenSpirit this spring, but getting this letter from you really brought some hope alive in me (and made me make a donation, too!)" Love S. |
