Greetings from Your

Presidents!

As the new school year is starting, our active members are working hard to get their classrooms ready while our retired members are smiling and having another cup of coffee!

We are hoping that our retired members will join us for a most informative meeting on September 9. Lisa Karstetter, the Microsoft TechSpark manager for Washington State, will join us. TechSpark is an initiative focused on rural communities, supporting programs that expand access to technology and provide education for students and adults to improve their digital skills.

Nancy Grette will give us an update on the past, present and future of the Alatheia Therapeutic Riding Center which we have supported in the past. Then we are invited to visit the center after the meeting! (see information below)

The fall also brings a start to this year's membership campaign. Sharon Salley and JoAnn Lewis are busy visiting school districts to recruit active members (5 new members so far!). Several members attended the DSR Retirement Seminar and CDSRA really made its presence known at the NCESD STEM Summit in Wenatchee. Our logo of support was on promotional materials as well as the Summit tee-shirts. Many participants came to our table to find out about CDSRA.

If you know of retired educators that would like to join us, please bring them to our next meeting.

- Beverly Jagla & Kriss Crilly, Unit 2 Co-Presidents

Field Trip!!!

Make plans to visit the Alatheia Therapy Riding Center after the meeting on September 9th. Our unit contributed to this outstanding program and it will be interesting to see how important this service is for our valley. We'll be leaving right after the general meeting and will carpool for those of you interested in participating.

This is a beautiful facility and it is heart-warming to watch the children participate. For more information, please contact Nancy Valeson 509-782-1563

October's Meeting

You won't want to miss next month's program on October 14:

  • Come and meet Wenatchee's new Superintendent, Dr. Paul Gordon

  • Thank our Legislators for their support and remind them of our priorities
