Yes, It's Been Awhile!
We admit it ….. we’ve been too busy to write!
So here's a brief rundown of a few of the things we’ve been working on.
May
> We had great fun tabling at the Jackson County Master Gardener Spring Garden Fair! Thank you to all the volunteers who helped, and talked with attendees
about pollinators, gardens, and pesticides!
> Bob Johnson’s visit to S. OR from Non Toxic Neighborhoods in Irvine, CA, was a huge success! Bob, along with Kim Konte and Chip Osborne via Zoom, and our
own Rhianna Simes, made an excellent presentation to the Talent City Council to help jumpstart the City’s pesticide-free IPM policy. Thank you, Beyond Toxics, for your work to make this happen! We couldn’t bee happier!
> While Bob was in town, we hosted a well-attended presentation at the
Phoenix Grange Hall to learn from Non Toxic Neighborhoods’ successes
in helping to change the practices and products of cities throughout the country.
Gratitude to everyone who contributed to this amazing Non Toxic week!
> We are thrilled that we, along with Beyond Toxics, were one of 32 recipients for their 2018 Community Grant Program! Our $750 award will be used to
develop our Non Toxic Rogue Valley project to help cities in the Rogue Valley transition away from toxic chemicals on their city, park, and school grounds.
June
> We helped the Bellview Grange (Ashland) write a resolution that was
submitted and approved at the Oregon State Grange Annual Convention.
Titled ‘Actively Support Healthy Pollinator Populations,’ the resolution
encourages all farmers in Oregon to adopt pollinator-friendly practices.
> We hosted an excellent class with Ruby Reid of Valhalla Organics about worms and worm bins, and each attendee took home their own worm bin!
> Kristina Lefever kicked off National Pollinator Week with her
Growing Pollinator Gardens class, at North Mountain Park Nature Center.
July
> As part of our Non Toxic Rogue Valley initiative, we are thrilled to have begun a partnership with Reforestation Technological International (RTI), sharing their 'Myco Start Packs' that will help grow stronger and healthier plants -
and healthier pollinators and people! Thank you, RTI, for your support!
> We had fun tabling at the 2nd Annual Jacksonville Pollinator Appreciation Day!
> Kristina Lefever and Ruby Reid of Valhalla Organics presented an
informative class about mason and leaf cutter bees.
(Would you like to have a presentation for your organization? Just let us know.)
August
> Jarrett Taylor and Seth Campbell, two wonderful SOU students, produced
updated Rogue Buzzway maps. We need more pollinator landscapes to
bee on the map - what about your pollinator landscape?
> As always, we enjoyed tabling at the annual Oregon Honey Festival in Ashland!
See pictures and flyers below.

Let's Do This!
Are you interested in helping get good things going around the Valley
about pollinators, plants, gardens, (no) pesticides, and more?
We are looking for volunteers to write articles for this newsletter or our blog,
send letters to the editor about important issues, help with social media, and more.
We invite fun-loving, creative people to join our Events Committee
and to table at community events!
How can YOU help?
Send us an email to let us know how you would like to bee involved!
