From the GALA Board of Directors:

January has been a busy month for GALA NTX: the Board had our 2018 Planning Session; after anti-LGBT+ and anti-Islamic tweets were discovered by two McKinney ISD teachers, we wrote a letter to the district offering Diversity Training focusing on the LGBT+ community (no response thus far); we weighed in on the attacks in Dallas of gay men using the dating app GRNDR (keep yourself safe!); and, on a lighter note, we had our first Third Thursday Happy Hour of 2018  at a new venue for us -- El Noa Noa in Plano.

Next month we are sending out a survey and we hope you will all take a few minutes to fill it out.  We are committed to Celebrating Diversity and Enhancing Equality for LGBT+ North Texans and want to hear from you how we are doing.

The LGBT+ community must come together and elect officials who will advance fair and equal treatment for all.   Texas primaries are around the corner on March 6, 2018. You must register to vote by the February 5, 2018, deadline to make your voice heard.  Get more information at:

Family Night at Durkin's Pizza

Tuesday, January 23  5:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Every 4th Tuesday we gather for Family Night at Durkins.  Stop by this family friendly event to network, socialize, enjoy happy hour, listen to rock n roll, and eat some great pizza! Durkin'sowner and ally extraordinarire, Michael Durkin, donates 10% of sales to GALA Youth, our group for LGBTQA youth.  Come out and bring a friend or two.  It's as easy as eating pizza!
