Our Class VII Students Took The National Exams!

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Tina’s Pre and Primary School has its first graduating class this year! This is a proud achievement for us, a major event in the lives of these children, and a reason for hope in the entire community.

In Tanzania, youngsters must pass the Class VII National Exam to continue to Secondary Schools. These National Exams were administered on Sept 4-5 and the pictures above show our students right after they completed them. Now they must wait until mid December to learn the results.  Because this exam is in English, our students have the benefit of our school's unique feature of teaching ALL subjects (except Kiswahili ☺) in English.

THANKS to YOUR donations, this class has been able to board at our school and study an extra three to four hours a day, Monday through Friday, through the summer in preparation for these exams.  Our teachers and our cooks have been providing extra tutoring, meals, and even overnight supervision to make this possible.

All of us, here in the USA and in Tanzania, who were inspired by Christine Nyanda Chacha are thrilled that we have been able to keep her dream alive.

Meet Mr. Pangani

We are honored to have a senior teacher like MR. JUMA PANGANI among our faculty. Mr. Pangani was born in 1952, and our Founder, Christine Nyanda Chacha recruited him to teach at our school in, 2012. Since then, he has taught our pupils Kiswahili, History, and Civics. In his own words, “I started working as a teacher in 1974. After finishing teaching college, the government employed me for 38 years to teach in the government schools. I never wanted to leave my profession as a teacher, so I was interested in teaching again after my retirement and helping my community by teaching children who live around here."

Teaching at Tina's

When we asked Mr. Pangani about his experience teaching at Tina's, he said: "What interested me most at Tina's Pre and Primary school was the school’s vision of helping the community. I felt good helping them by using the teaching skills I have to improve the life of our kind. It’s very easy at Tina’s because of the teaching environment I found here. I have worked at Tina's for 5 years and I’m happy to be here as a teacher, and I always feel comfortable."

Our students look up to Mr. Pangani, and his patience and passion for teaching reaches even our most challenged youngsters. We are glad that teachers like Mr. Pangani are fulfilled working at Tina’s!

Please help us recruit and retain amazing teachers

like Mr. Pangani with your donations!

Knowing Our Roots

There isn't a month that goes by that we do not talk about our founder Christine Nyanda Chacha in our gatherings, meetings, or our monthly newsletters. This is because her vision continues to inspire us and her passion for enabling and involving the community guides how we implement our projects.

Taking Leaps Forward

In 2015, we introduced Computer Learning to our classrooms full of eager students. Our Class VII students took part and learned their way round the One Laptop Per Child devices in no time. We look forward to expanding this project to all classes and grades and eventually to community adults.
