'Hooray for Monday!'

Digest

Hello there!

What do you think of this photo that my sister took? (Hi Traci!)  Not sure whether the cheetah is male or female but as I've named it Usain, let's agree he's male.  I'd like to think he's laughing at the hilarious content in 'Hooray for Monday' but maybe he's stretching his jaw, ready to chomp on an unsuspecting tourist with a camera!

What's in store this week?

  • A simple, no-cost, adjustment you can make straightaway which will benefit your mind and your waistline.
  • How to adjust to a new boss.
  • The results of what happens when you have a: cat, cardboard box, ball of wool and too much time on your hands!

As always, if there's anything you want me to include in a future edition, just let me know.  The key criterion for content is that it needs to have a positive angle.

Have a happy week.

For learning and curiosity:

"Sitting Is the Smoking of Our Generation"

You’ve probably heard about ‘walking meetings’ before but have you actually tried them?  If you need a prod to give them a go, watch this very short video by Nilofer Merchant.  She has launched more than 100 products, netting $18 billion in sales, so it seems that walking meetings are working for her!

What are any of us going to lose by trying this? (Other than a few centimetres from our waistlines).

For tips and ideas:

Adjusting to a new boss

I've created this resource in response to a request.  The tips are written from the perspective of a new boss coming into an organisation that you've been working in for some time.  However, if you are going to be the new boss, it's worth a read to think about things from your team's perspective.

For a smile:

A cat sporting different wool hairstyles

This green curly wig is my favourite from the four styles modelled in the video.  Whilst under 3 mins long, the video feels a little slow but that's part of the charm, as Maru the cat seems so placid and patient with his owner's silliness.  (Be honest, who's tempted to try this with their own pets?)
