Local community agencies come in contact with people who are at a very difficult time in there lives, I would go as far to say some may be at a breaking point. It's heart breaking to watch a family member or friend go threw a hard time. It may be battling with addition, homelessness, not being able to meet their basic needs or the needs of there family. No one person or agency can help with all life's problems. TOAM realizes that hygiene is just one piece of the the puzzle that needs to be addressed. That's why we work with food pantries, Senior housing buildings, refugee organizations, human service agencies and soup kitchens. Each organization has an area of focus that tackles a specific disparity but together we work on helping individuals get pass disparities and into a healthy and productive life.

The Great Give is upon us! May 3-4th, we will be holding our annual virtual fundraiser. This event is an opportunity for everyone to help provide basic needs to the community we live, work, and play. Our goal for this year is $5,000.00. This goal will help us keep our current programs running strong as we offer hygiene products to those having difficulty keeping up with inflated prices.
We are pleased to announce that we have two peer-to-peer fundraisers on our behalf. BNI of Greater New Haven https://rb.gy/mmsr Terri Williams https://rb.gy/8ta6
The links will be active April 28th - May 4th. Thank you so much to these two wonderful groups for supporting our mission of providing hygiene products to improve the health and self-esteem of children and adults. If you would like to join in the fun and be a peer-to-peer fundraiser please get in touch with Tanaya at Tanayah@toamission.org or visit our GreatGive page and click on fundraise.
Our youth workshops allow TOAM to expand its reach to the younger community members. Youth ages 5-18 enjoy the hands-on workshops that we offer. The workshops are geared to be engaging, and everyone goes home with something they made. We have seven offerings that include. First-Aid kits- The participants create kits filled with various bandages and cleaning wipes. We discuss when to use what type of bandage does not waste resources. Hand washing - Participants make soap, and we talk about the parts of the hands and feet that need extra attention. Clean kitchen- Participants learn about cleaning hard services and using household items to make cleaning spray. Clean water - We discuss the importance of clean water regardless of your geographic area. The participants experimented to see how clean they could get a picture of the water. Mending- Hand sewing is becoming a lost art. We talk about keeping ourselves presentable and how to fix our clothes. Sewing- Some jobs are bigger than a thread and needle. We introduced them to a sewing machine and how to make a bag to keep soiled cloth separate from the school bag. Dental Hygiene- Do you really brush your teeth as your dentist recommends? This workshop goes over the importance of brushing.
The workshops are a great resource to fill in the regular programming that is offered. The group size is 5-15, depending on the topic. Contact Tanaya to learn more about offering workshops to the children in your community. https://www.toamission.org/youth-workshops
