Madam's Corner What a great week! For those of you that did not attend the February Meeting, you missed a lot! We are once again sponsoring a Little League Team; we changed up the 50/50 to award the first ticket drawn 50% of the pot, the second 50% will be awarded to the Volunteer of the Month and the total amount will be matched and awarded to the selected Community Support organization or upcoming event. AND, we awarded Pine Island Elementary $10,700 from the 2021 Pine Island Elementary Tournament & Derby. We are responsible for kicking off a STEM/STEAM Lab at PIE that every student will participate in each and every week!! This is amazing to be able to bring this type of experience to Elementary Students starting at the Kindergarten level. - STEM – Science, Technology, Electronics and Math – 2nd through 5th Graders
- STEAM – Science, Technology, Electronics, Art and Math – Kindergarten and 1st Graders
That’s in addition to continuing our support of the Teachers to offset their out of pocket costs, replenishing their Library and replacing all of the Chair/Bookbags for the K and 1st Grade Classes. This weekend was a busy one with the Merchandise Team at the Garden Gala, another team painting and decorating props for the Luau and a team sorting for Bag ‘n Tag. Whew!! Next Saturday the 26th will be busy, too. Set up for the Luau is from 3:00pm until 6:00pm and we’ll have another sort for the Bag ‘n Tag from 9:00am until about noon. Then final set up for the Luau will start Sunday morning on the 27th at 9:00am. This is the time of year when YOUR help is needed behind the scenes to make our events successful!! All of us should be helping each other! Frankly, I’m looking forward to enjoying the Luau next weekend; aren’t you? Get your tickets now as this promises to once again be a sold out. And why do we do all of this? So that we can continue to Make A Positive Difference In Our Community and Take Care Of What’s In Our Own Backyard!!! Proud to be a Matlacha Hooker! Madam DJ |
