FIVE WORK HACKS TO MAXIMIZE YOUR PRODUCTIVITY

“There aren’t enough hours in the day.”

We’ve all heard this line before. Despite our best intentions, many of us find we have too many tasks and not enough time to complete them. Here are five easy work hacks that can help you maximize your productivity and reduce stress during your day.

SET A TIMER

Estimate the time you’ll need for daily tasks and then set a timer for each one. Your smartphone has a built-in timer that’s easy to use for this hack. Still having trouble? Try the Pomodoro Technique, a time management system that encourages people to work with the time they have. Break your workday into 25-minute segments, separated by five-minute breaks. After four of these intervals, take a longer break of about 15 to 20 minutes.

DELEGATE

You don’t have to be a supervisor to delegate. Try cross-training someone new or someone eager to learn how you do what you do. This not only gives them an opportunity to enhance their skill set but also takes some items off your plate.

BARTER

One of the oldest forms of commerce, bartering is the exchange of one good or service for another. For example, a farmer may exchange a month’s worth of food grown on the farm for a new barn built by a carpenter. Bartering can cut costs, especially for small businesses, or reduce personal expenses. Think smart, and leverage!

TAKE A BREAK

Work smarter, not harder. When you are strategic in your thinking and connections, the load becomes lighter and you understand the value of maximizing your time.  When you do this, you will find time to breathe (because breathing is necessary).

ENJOY LIFE

Hacks are designed to give you more time to spend on the things and people you enjoy. Have you been holding onto something with the hope that someday, the right time will come? Begin taking steps to make it happen. There’s no such thing as “small” when you’re in motion!.
