AUM NEWSLETTER

Check out what we've been up to this month

AUM is busy this Month!

This month is full of exciting news.  We are launching a brand-new website very soon which incorporates a fresh look and is more user-friendly and interactive.   An announcement will go out when the site goes live!

February is Black History month and a special time for us to reflect on how far we have come as a nation and how far we have yet to go.  We embrace big changes and new precedents as we welcome the first African American and first Asian American woman to hold the position of Vice- President.  This month is momentous as it aligns with our goal to spread awareness and offer education on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.  Our Pathway 2 Inclusion program is kicking off with a special class for our students titled ‘Learning and Leading for an Inclusive Society’ and will cover topics such as social justice definitions, stereotypes,  unconscious bias and more.  This will be an interactive seminar that empowers AUM participants to become activists for an inclusive society.   The future is bright and full of hope..

CAREER INFO SESSION

Joann Samalot meets with

Chrisi Reynard, Assistant News Director WHNT

My meeting with Christi gave me a more, in detailed, view of how the work in the news room is like. She answered my questions thoroughly and explained to me what exactly it was that she does as an Assistant News Director. She also told me to check which major was going to take me towards Broadcast, because in some colleges it may be communications and in others it may be journalism is a great place to tell your subscribers about the amazing things you've been up to.

COMMUNITY SPONSOR

Our Agency is committed in supporting non-profits, social groups, school programs and churches of our community. Giving back and being involved are the roots on which our business was established and continues to grow and thrive today. AUM Charitable Foundation has been a trusted partner of our agency for years. The Foundation's work to assist female high school students in the Huntsville and Madison area is remarkable. Its programs to help each student become more successful and productive through mentoring, education, financial resources for higher education, and career path services, has been invaluable. Our agency is honored to have been a financial sponsor of the Foundation for several years. In the future, we hope to grow our involvement and partnership with AUM Charitable Foundation by creating opportunities for mentoring and internship programs.

Dress for Success Fashion Show & Etiquette Luncheon

The saying that “it takes a village” was never more true than at our January Enrichment Class Dress for Success Fashion Show & Etiquette Luncheon. Not only did the girls learn how to dress professional, but they also were able to learn proper business etiquette. We would like to thank our caterer Jennifer Sherman, Alabama Fashion Alliance and their leader LeJeune and her crew, Tanya Harris who is a make up artist and made every one look their best,Derrick Williams, and Julie Lumpkins who did the photography.

We would also like to thank Lori Gregory who exemplifies all that we want our community to be. For the past several years, Lori has devoted her time teaching etiquette to our students. She makes thoughtful gift packages for them and gives them advice that contributes to their success. I have already had students ask for her presentation. I bet they are sharing forward! #rippleeffect

I am fully invested…..AUM & P2S will always have my support!
