WORCS Round 6-7 BLYTHE

OCT 23-25

Worcs Round 6 & 7 Blythe, CA was a new venue for most of us. It had Lake havasu characteristics with higher speeds. A lot of the riders feed back was positive and said this was the most fun track so far. It was humid and made for an exhausting weekend.

Saturday started with women's expert, qualifying for pro 2 classes and pro practice. Given it was a weekend full of racing we told our riders who had to qualify to just take it easy and be in a transfer position for the pro race at the end of the day. The same strategy followed for Sunday as well. The race track proved to be a tough one on all the riders. Racers were coming in left and right with bent up bikes and physical exhaustion.

Justin Seeds would find himself in a great position Saturday and Sunday he had a few more issues that resulted in a lesser finish. Mason Ottersberg suffered a mechanical Saturday and rode his heart out on Sunday until a crash occurred with two laps to go and lost a couple positions at the finish. Tyler Lynn killed it both days despite battling some adversity Saturday and then Sunday absolutely killing the competition. Thomas Dunn also rode very well Saturday and Sunday finishing on the box Saturday, but then suffered a mechanical Sunday forcing him to DNF. Sharon Mowell struggled all weekend to find the flow to be in the front, but stuck it out and finished strong both days. Caitlyn Kurtz was able to finally finish on the top spot in women's A both days.

TYLER LYNN

2ND & 1ST

PRO 2 LITES

Tyler battled some adversity in round 6 when he didn't get his bike started fast enough for the dead engine start. He came from the back and fought hard to put himself in 3rd by the end of lap one. He was able to come away with a 2nd place finish. Sunday for round 7 he got a great start and pushed hard to finish first in class and 5th overall.

In his words: "Round 6: Pro Race Got off to a not so good start. With it being dead engine I got a little excited and didn’t hold the button on long enough. So being dead last off the start I knew I had some work to do. After putting in a few laps of full sprint mode to catch the leader. I made a quick pass and put a gap between us pretty quickly when I over jumped a wall jump and it sent me over the bars. The crash jammed my thumb pretty good and just took it out of me. I got up and pushed to a 2nd place finish on the first day of racing.

Round 7: Pro race My start in the second day of racing was much better than the day before with a second place start. I just tried finding a flow early on and stuck to that pace. Angus Riordon wasn’t letting off tho and gave me a run for my money a few times. Soon enough I had put a gap on him and found so better lines and more speed and put down a charge later in the race. I was feeling really good catching all the Pro2 guys ahead of me and just having a lot of fun. The last few laps I put it on cruise mode and brought her into the finish with a 1st Pro2 lights and my best Overall finish with a 5th. Super pumped to break the top 5 from the third wave on a 250 and can’t wait to try an do it again in a few weeks. Thanks to all that supports us!"

THOMAS DUNN

3RD & DNF

PRO 2 LITES

Thomas Dunn completed his second event with us so far and is quickly finding himself in the front pack. He rounded out the podium in third with Tyler for round 6. Round 7 he ended the day suffering a mechanical that couldn't be fixed in the pit.

In his words: "This weekend had it’s up and downs. Saturday ended up 2nd in 250 A and 3rd in pro 2 lights. Sunday cruised around in 250 A trying to find lines and ended up winning. Was feeling good going into the pro race and ended up having a mechanical that put me out of the race. Making progress every weekend, looking forward to Ngpc next weekend at Glen Helen."

JUSTIN SEEDS

4TH & 7TH

PRO

Justin did really well for round 6 finishing 4th with a solid pace and showed the Justin speed we know he had. Round 7 didn't go quite as well. He ended up wrecking and falling back to much and couldn't make up the time. He is healthy and ready to battle next weekend for NGPC.

In his words: "Saturday Started off a little weird with the starter not being told the correct starting procedure, but got off to an okay start, but was off the pace that first lap and had to pull it together and start moving to the front.  I kept my head down and charged as hard as I could and was able to to come away with a solid 4th place finish.

Sunday Started off in the top 5 and was running 6th after the first lap. I knew I was in a solid position to hopefully capitalize on guys maybe getting tired after yesterday’s race, but unfortunately I made a mistake in the sand and smacked myself to the ground. Being so far back hurt me and was only able to make it back to 7th for the day."

MASON OTTERSBERG

DNF & 4TH

PRO 2

Mason had great speed and was in contention for podiums both days. Round 6 he suffered a DNF due to a fuel pump going bad after running down for a 3rd place position early on. Round 7 we got his bike fixed and he looked great the entire race. He was running in second most of the race and had two laps left when he suffered a nasty crash resulting in him finishing 4th. He is getting checked out this week for any injuries he may have sustained.

In his words: "This just wasn't my weekend. I have been so consistent this year, it's frustrating to break the streak. We just had bad luck all weekend and tried to overcome it.  I felt great on Sunday to tried to redeem my DNF with a podium and was in route to get it done until I had a freak crash. I did everything I could to manage my second position, but had some pains I couldn't push through to salvage it. I am most frustrated I couldn't hold down the podium."

SHARON MOWELL

5TH & 5TH

WOMEN'S PRO

Sharon worked hard both days, but didn't have the speed to stay with the podium contenders. She knows there is some homework to be done to close the gap and is going to work hard to close those gaps up.

In her words: "Good time at a great new race venue! Had a good few battles but couldn’t get a flow going in all the deep sand whoops which ate up a lot of time. Took 5th Saturday and Sunday , waiting to tackle the next race for revenge."

CAITLYN KURTZ

1ST & 1ST

WOMEN'S A

Caitlyn gets better each race she puts herself in. She rode hard both days to finish strong with a pair of wins in the women's expert class. Showing consistency and grit to fight for podiums and learn what it take to move into the women's pro class in the future.

In her words: "Round 6 and 7 of WORCS in Blythe was a really fun and challenging experience. On both Saturday and Sunday the sand proved to be a real struggle of mine as I tried to fight it. Saturday I had a great start and was up front the entirety of the race and even though I made many mistakes in the sand I was able to over come it and keep that top spot in first. Sunday was a bit more challenging with the course change. I was second off the start and stayed that way for the first couple of laps until I was able to jump past first to gain the lead. I wasn’t able to keep my feet on the pegs but I still managed to keep pace and made for a strong finish to an awesome weekend running back to back Women’s A wins."
