'360' Newsletter

Ramin Yazdanpanah, Ph.D. | April 19, 2024

A resource for students and teachers, a quote to inspire, and a question to ponder. It really is the little things we do consistently that lead to great outcomes.

Flower Feedback & Reflection

Reflecting on learning and teaching is essential to clearly see what we know, what is difficult, and how we are developing. The following "Reflection Rose" graphic organizer can be used in tandem with mindful reflection to generate feedback and set SMART goals. This can be used at the beginning of a class to prime the brain for learning as well the end of a class as an exit ticket.

Speaking about writing, the following video "Writing Across Borders" is a classic two-part documentary that I keep coming back to and sharing year after year. The video might appear a bit dated but the student and teacher stories are timeless and extremely insightful. "Through interviews with students and professionals in the field, the film encourages us to ask the following questions: How does culture play out in writing, and how are our expectations shaped by cultural preferences?"

Quote

"A mind cannot be independent of culture."

- Lev Vygotsky

Question

How are your expectations of communication shaped by your cultural preferences?

Until next week,

Ramin aka "Dr. Yaz"

p.s. As soon as you can, take a minute to write to somebody who might need some words of love, appreciation, encouragement, and connection.

If you find value in any of this week's resources, please subscribe and forward this newsletter to someone who may benefit. Thank you!
