Festival within a festival

Kia ora to our very special supporters and friends.

It’s been 4 years since we started our project at Nelson Arts Festival, and this year they have invited us to have our own festival hub. A festival within a festival which means we continue to do things following our values and kaupapa, rather than trying to fit or blend into something else.

“When I hear that tune, the beat of my heart skips and the memory of the moment comes back to me… It’s winter and it’s snowing. It’s after 3pm and it’s already dark. White flakes of snow are dancing and shining in the lights of the street of a little East European town. I’m walking with my Walkman on and listening to that special tune. I’m going to meet with a friend.” - Karolina Gorton

Do you have a favourite tune? Come along and share your story with a small intimate group:

This will have limited spaces so it’s best to rsvp sooner than later:

Esta vez traemos historias en su lenguaje original para nuestra comunidad.Te invitamos al festival de artes de Nelson a escuchar historias en español que seran leidas por uno de nuestros jóvenes.Ven en pijamas, trae a tus amigos para estar comodos. Las bebidas calientes y las historias las ponemos nosotros. Todas las edades invitadas.

Come in your PJ’s and enjoy a cosy bedtime story and warm drink.

The Little Red hen will be read by Wendy Riascos in Spanish. This is part of a 5 part series of 1st Language Storytime thanks to Community Organisation Grants Scheme.

On Friday 6th Oct there was a Strong Community Symposium for not for profit organisations, facilitated  by Nelson Tasman Chamber of Commerce and Rātā Foundation (sponsored by NBS). I was invited to be part of a panel discussion with Johny O’Donnell and Tony Gray (CEO of Nelson Tasman Hospice). It was a huge honour to be able to talk about our kaupapa, ethics and connect with others of similar values. One of the topics was sustainability and we talked about how helpful Patreon is and how much of a difference it is making.

Are you able to spare a price of a cup of coffee each month and stay connected with all our new products, events and news?
