Dill, a Poem by Erin Covey-SmithIt is hot, hotter than it was ever meant to be. The air chewable, our thoughts limp as the beanstalks in the garden. Night a stultifying soup - no gentle lap of the sea's breath on the nape of my neck. They say not to dwell in this mourning place, in this disbelieving grief. |

Positionality/Metacognition/Rhetoric, a Poem by Susan Wenzel(Dianna Good Sky and Rosalie Fish mentioned with permission) Who am I, I asked myself, to write about something I know nothing about? Who am I, I asked myself, to not? Who am I, Susan, euromuttwhitewoman, to align myself with Rosalie Fish, Dianna Good Sky, and more nativeamericanindigenouswomen, and their mission of equality? |

And It Was Good, a Poem by Marjorie MaddoxNot the green-grey sludge snaking to the river's edge. Not the sun's overdone orb baking the snake to a dry bed of dust. Not the hands of a man cracking open stones in a barren bed of dirt beside a field void of crops, or trees, or snakes, or soul. |

Dark, a Poem by Oyetayo EniolaDark skin, melanin Clearheaded and educated And now obviously frustrated From all the history books rewritten I know you expect us to keep on the way you illustrated But the elders came through-got our ways right And thankfully highlighted the facts you sugarcoat Black being misled and misguided. |
