President's Message TERI HASENOUR GORDON |
If you are anything like me, you have been waiting for the end of the year 2020. Just when we thought it could not get more bizarre, someone detonates a bomb in downtown Nashville and all AT&T services, including 911 go down. I have friends as far away as Texas who were experiencing problems with their services. This Christmas, I thought even though the family could not be together physically we would FaceTime on Christmas Day and at least be together virtually. Then that mode of communication went down. If nothing else this year has taught us the importance of friends and family and good old fashion communication. But even the mail was having trouble making it on time for Christmas. |

The end of the year gives us some retrospect, but what I like is the beginning of a new year. As I take down the Christmas decorations, I look to the new year. Today the sun is shining brightly, and the world feels full of possibilities. Soon I hope we will all be together at a dinner meeting and all the activities will begin. Last night I was listening to the story of Noah in the Bible. Just as Noah emerges from the ark and sees the world full of possibilities, we can emerge after the pandemic and see the world full of possibilities. New activities, new business opportunities, a fresh start, and a time to make plans. Let us remember our strengths and work to make 2021 a great year. This is a short message, but I want to thank our members for hanging in there during this past year. Many of our regular activities were canceled but membership has remained steady, donations to the scholarship fund and the Sisters Christmas gifts were remarkable. We have had to be creative and I am thankful to everyone who has helped to make the past year successful. We have a bright future in front of us and I am proud to say that through it all Nashville Catholic Business Women’s League has stayed the course. We are still as strong as ever and as 2021 unfolds and a new leadership team takes over in the Spring, I know we as a group can weather whatever is placed in front of us. Always keeping true to our mission: To empower members and other women through the sharing of our resources; To stimulate interaction among Catholic women of all ages; To strengthen and encourage members and all women of all ages; To support through prayer, example and work, the improvement of life for women; and To promote and perpetuate Catholic education. Thank you for making 2020 a great year in spite of the challenges and difficulties. Let us look to the future and embrace what God has planned for us and our organization in 2021. My prayer is that it is the best year yet for all of us. Keep your eye on your email for updates on resuming the dinner meetings. Teri Gordon |
