PASTORAL PAGE WHY BOTHER IF IT IS ALL GOING TO BE DESTROYED ANYWAY? by Ps Lim Wei-en This weekend, we will be starting the first of a two-part series on Creation Care. At face value, caring for creation seems like a common-sensical and Biblical thing to do. After all, in the Creation Narrative, God affirmed creation as very good (Gen. 1:31) and commissioned humans to rule over the creatures he has created (Gen. 1:28) and to take care of the earth (Gen. 2:15). However, a pushback against Creation Care has been the idea that if the earth is going to be destroyed in the final judgment anyway, then there is no point in being too concerned about things like pollution, the extinction of animals or climate change. In fact, if Christians care too much about these things (so it is argued), they would be distracted from the “real and spiritual” work of saving souls for eternity. It is important that we take this pushback seriously, because if what is asserted is true, then it isn’t just our involvement in creation care that will be affected. If indeed the earth is going to be destroyed, why bother with anything in this created realm? Why bother with studies, work, play, justice, even our bodies, if all that is material will be gone one day? Why bother indeed?.......... Read More > |

COLOURS OF CHRISTMAS A Christmas Party organised by the Good Neighbours Every month, volunteers from The Bible Church have been reaching out to show the love of Jesus to our Good Neighbours beneficiaries. These beneficiaries include at-risk teenage girls from Gladiolus Place, migrant brothers at Kranji Recreation Centre, and low-income families residing in West Coast & Clementi. This Christmas, we hope to invite these beneficiaries for a time of food, fun and celebration, where we will also share the true meaning of Christmas with them. Details: Date: 10 December 2023 (Sunday) Time: 5.00-8.00pm Venue: The Bible Church Singapore, 152 West Coast Road, Singapore 127370 Highlights include: Buffet dinner, live ice cream and prata stations, photobooth, blessing draw, pre-loved gift corner, live band & door gifts. HOW CAN YOU BE INVOLVED? Packing and wrapping of door gifts and blessing draw prizes (note: this will take place on 8 December (Friday), 2.00pm) Logistics assistant (for registration, pre-loved gift corner, photo booth, etc.) Befriender & table host* Donate new items for the blessing draw or secondhand items in good condition for the pre-loved gift corner. Recommended items for donation: small household items, small electrical appliances, electronic devices, bags, stationery, shirts for men, food items (halal).

CHENNAI-EQUIPASIA (EA) GRADUATION & MISSION TRIP Dates: 1 to 5 November 2023 The master trainers from Chennai who graduated from the EA training program in Singapore in March 2023 have in turn been teaching 40 Christian leaders in the outskirts of Chennai. An EA graduation will be held on 2 November 2023. A team consisting of five brothers, Benjamin Hon, Sashiraj, Lee Tianli, Johnny Yeo and Asst Ps Gift Daniel will be going to South India to attend the EA graduation. They will then remain for a few more days to visit the churches and outreach work of our EA partners. Please pray for: 1. Stamina and motivation for both the teachers and students to complete the training program with enthusiasm and joy as there are still some more EA sessions for students to complete. 2. The students to be more effective in their respective ministries by applying what they have learnt from the EA materials. 3. The master trainers to be united as they plan their next training program and to be able to recruit students to participate in the program. 4. Safe trip for the team going from our church. Pray for safety during the local road travel as the team will be visiting some remote places outside Chennai. 5. The churches and outreach work we will be visiting outside Chennai. Pray that our team will be a source of encouragement to the local pastors and evangelists. |

FROM THE DESERT TO THE CITY: CHRISTIANS IN CREATION CARE For the worship services on the weekends of 21 & 22 October and 28 & 29 October, we have invited Mr Lawrence Ko to speak on the topic of creation care. TBC ASIAN MISSION FELLOWSHIP (ONLINE) Scripture exhorts us to encourage one another as the day is drawing near. This is what we aim to do through our Zoom fellowship with our mission partners (who can speak English) serving in Bhutan, Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, India, Mongolia, Nepal, Philippines and other countries. Started in May 2021, this time of worship, devotion, sharing and prayer has been well received. In 2023, our devotions is based on the book of Jonah. Due to security concerns, please note that this will be a closed meeting. Please join us if you have a burden to encourage those who are going through persecution and difficult times. If you are going through a season of challenges and need emotional support, the Lay Counselling Ministry in the Bible Church would love to pray and journey with you through your struggles and difficulties. Trained counsellors are available to help with pastoral care and short-term counselling for children, youth and adults, including TBC members, regular attendees and those seeking Christian counsel.
