IN THIS MONTH'S ISSUE: Meeting My Editor Making the Book Trailer NoNaWriMo 2021 November Appearances Zahra's Earth-Friendly Tip My Personal Gossip |

MEETING MY EDITOR There are moments in life when the stars align perfectly. That's when magic happens. It's also one way of describing how I came to meet my editor. Read about our first in-person meeting in my latest blog: |

Sometimes things are just meant to be. Meeting my editor fits perfectly in the meant-to-be category, even if it happened because my father-in-law became gravely ill. |

Two days into a recent trip to Hubby's hometown to help with his dad who was sick—very sick, actually—I realized how close we were to my new publisher. |

For years, I've known that my first marketing priority for my middle grade novel debut would be to create a book trailer. It had to be a live action production. How I was going to pull that off was never a concern. I was just going to make it happen. Now that the book is under contract with a May 2022 release date, the stars have aligned yet again, magic has been conjured, and the trailer is well underway. |

National Novel Writing Month begins today. I've been a member of NaNoWriMo since 2010. I've drafted novels that will never see the light of day. I worked on SOCIETY OF THE SENTINELIA in 2019. Last year, I drafted book 2 in the series, affectionately titled THE BLIND FAIRY, which will be published May 2023. This year, I'm drafting book 3, due out May 2024. |

ZAHRA'S EARTH-FRIENDLY TIP |
|
|
I filled Zahra in on our Thanksgiving traditions. She wants us to make acorn cakes for our festivities this year. I'm thinking about it. In the meantime, Zahra reminds us all to compost our kitchen scraps while preparing our big holiday meals. |
|
|
Here's a list of scraps she suggested we compost after I told her what was on the menu: carrot peelings, potato peelings, nut shells, egg shells, herb stalks, onion peels, tomato seeds, pumpkin guts ... well, you get the picture. Zahra and I both wish you a happy, healthy, safe, earth-friendly Thanksgiving! |

After-meal walks when I was growing up were hikes. We lived in the Appalachian Mountains where they cut off the corner of Northern New Jersey. When Dad said, "Let's go for a walk," we were headed to the pipeline, Surprise Lake, or another woodsy trail nearby. Now that the weather has cooled, Hubby and I try to fit a hike in every weekend. The hikes take the edge off adjusting to the shorter days. They fill me with fresh air and inspired hope. They get my creative juices flowing. And they provide lots of photo opportunities I can use to promote my middle grade novels, which are set in the Birkhead Wilderness of the Uwharrie Mountains.
