Welcome to the

CHILD's Trust

Summer Newsletter

It seems like a life time ago that we visited the CHILD's Trust projects.
Mark and Julie travelled to Bangladesh and India in February, a lot earlier than ‘normal’ but how amazing is that, within a few weeks of their return, lockdown started
…

God had it all planned out!

Since we've been back we've been video calling one of the projects each day, it's been a blessing to stay in touch and see how they're doing during the challenges of lockdown for them.  They too have home-schooling, with some being creative modelling things from egg boxes whilst the older ones are studying hard.

We stayed with the Nizhum family, their children are the youngest of all our Houses of Hope.  It is a noisy, busy, fun-filled family home with 6 children under 10 years of age!  We enjoyed walking through local farm land each morning, the young boys loved to run whilst the girls took their time to enjoy the animals. We all got a ‘little’ muddy but it felt well worth it for the half hour of fun and memories!

We were so privileged to be a part of George and Biva's project being officially registered by the local authorities, this was a real answer to prayer, giving the family stability.

The family is growing up so fast….Joy (their eldest son) has arrived home, as his nursing training has been put on hold due to Covid 19. His parents will be grateful for the extra pair of hands in their busy home at this time!

We headed to Jehovah School, in the Chittagong hill tracts but being in a politically sensitive area we have to await official permission each time we request a visit but on this occasion, it wasn’t granted.  So, instead all the staff from both schools travelled to see us.  That was a real blessing for all, in so many ways, it was wonderful to watch both sets of teachers talking and exchanging ideas.  It became a great time to share and also plan the needs of the schools for the coming months.

Since we saw the teachers, the price of food has increased due to the Covid 19 Virus, so we have provided bags of rice to the teachers and communities in both schools and villages.

You may recall last year that Mark and Joe walked from the source of the River Thames to the City of London to raise funds to build a permanent home for our Vishwa Jyoti House of Hope family.  This  trip included the opening of the home!  So Joe and a team of CHILD's Trust supporters from the UK flew out to join us.

The house has the most incredible view of the Himalayan mountains, an awesome view for the family to see each day!  We shared a special meal to celebrate, having fun and building friendships.

Several of the visiting team have sponsored children in Dehradun Public School (DPS) for years so it was emotional and exciting for them to meet for the first time!  We then went onto the Roshni Project

This is a pre-school project helping children from very poor families, start their education. The great thing here is that the parents are also learning too!  Our future plans are to support some of the older children in full time education.  If you'd like to get involved, please click the 'Sponsor a child' button below.

Before heading home we took time to visit Pinewood School, in North India.  We saw a few of the group shine, as possibly potential teachers!

We arrived back in the UK just before the borders closed!

Sadly, due to Covid 19 we had to cancel our fundraising Murder Mystery event planned for March, however some of our supporters have been busy raising money for CHILD's Trust during lockdown...

Friends of Andy, Laura, Lily & Heidi enjoyed homemade pizzas and kindly donated to CHILD's Trust for their homemade pizza delivery service!

Luke and Theo raised well over £500 for CHILD's Trust, being sponsored by his generous family and friends by having a lockdown haircut!  If you'd like to add to support Luke's efforts, click on the button below:

And lastly we'd like to say many thanks to Graeme who has been our designer for the CHILD's Trust newsletter for over 15 years.  Amazing! Thank you so much Graeme!

Thank you again for ALL your love support and encouragement

God bless

Mark & Julie
